Lagoonitis

Saliva
Symptoms
Blue Rashes appear on the skin that glow in the dark. The rashes are only visible when in darkness due to a mutation of the bacteria. Mania follows, then confusion, somnolence and death.
Treatment
The enzyme in the stomachs of the extinct Phazrian birds was unintentionally fighting the bacteria until the birds were hunted to near extinction, and then the disease began to spread.
Prognosis
The condition is eventually fatal if not treated. Divine healing can stall progression past the blue rash, but does not fully cure the disease. Being near a Phazrian for long periods of time (an hour each day) can make one immune to the disease and cure them if they already have it.
Prevention
Divine healing, anything that would normally remove diseases from a person can remove symptoms. Not sharing in drinks or not touching in any way other peoples saliva can also prevent one from becoming infected by the disease.
Epidemiology
The extinction of the Phazrians started the resurgence of the plague, as well as the rediscovery of it in the ancient Azament city of Toldamtor.
History
The disease has existed for milenea, but the Azaments made a cure in the form of the genetically engineered Phazrian which was able to efficiently vaccinate the population against the disease. Once the Phazrians went extinct, though, it was only a matter of time until someone discovered Toldamton and released the disease.
Cultural Reception
People with this condition are feared by the community due to the nature in which it spreads, and some radicals believe that the disease is divine punishment for some unknown sin and those who are infected with it are evil at heart and must be destroyed.
