Griffin

Known for their intimidating visage and their large wingspan, Griffins are a common creature native to Vassalstar, which have since over the past thousand years migrated around and become frequent in Takarez, Isuth, Izaius'Cu, The Underbelly, The Uscon, and Vikinitos. They are noted as being popular in heraldry within The Sun Elven Nation and is considered their Kingdom's national animal. A griffin itself is social, yet typically doesn't interact with other species unless hunting. It can occasionally be found during sheer mountain heights by brave climbers.
They prefer warm to mild locations, and are often found during dusk and dawn, but certain breeds can withstand the extreme heat of Takarez, looking more similar to Vultures, and extreme cold of Vikinitos, looking more similar to owls. The most common breed however appears to have eagle or hawkish features, with thick feline back legs.
Griffins are considered noble creatures to sun elf, smart though not capable of advanced language. Adjacently however, they are considered pests by pretty much every where else. Many tales consist of griffins swooping in and saving at risk travelers, but equally so, swooping in and killing livestock and leaving people stranded. They are often portrayed as the mounts of noble heroes in elvish folk tales, and have a high opinion in the elvish public eye. As a result of their high status, they are universally protected within their regions and hunting them for sport is against the law.
The rest of the world however is more than happy to be done with the pests. A griffin as a mount is a fiercy loyal companion who will fight to the death to protect you. They enjoy being adorned in armor and can get quite family oriented with their riders, often protecting the owner's children with the same lethal ferocity. This is based mostly around Griffins being pack animals.
You will only find Griffins for sale in Elven settlements main cities, and often at a premium of 40-120GP.
