Cat'Sith

"A tradtional Adahlen mount, turned to one of the most popular Izaius'Cu and Ska'Renia mounts, because of their handleability, ease of care, and sleek beauty. Just watch the claws."
— Historians
Cat'Sith are a type of mount that were originally introduced by Adahlen. They look like oversized housecats, but they tend to be much more highly intelligent, being able to be ushered around similar to a raptor. However these 'oversized house cats' have some identifiable features. Any healthy Cat'Sith is born polydactyl, meaning they will have an extra amount of toes on their paws. These can range from one to three. These much wider paws allow for a ridiculous scaling ability of mountain sides and steep drops.   Their grace and agility has been noted to be so efficient that a Cat'Sith can walk, fully saddled and being ridden upon along a average sized pipe at a horses trot, while a regular cat would even have issues. This supernatural climbing and balance come at the cost of them not being efficient 'galloping' mounts, and progress will always be made at a slow and steady pace when riding upon a Cat'Sith. While they can have burst of energy to help a hunter take down a prey, they are almost always going to be possessive of said Prey and refuse to let it go.   Cat'Sith contain one more trick up their sleeve however, and that is their nine lives. A Cat'sith can be outrightly killed, but they will come back to life with a fury like nothing else within a minute, unless their body is completely destroyed. Their flesh will regenerate, missing parts will reconnect or reform. They make for a resilient mount for this reason. However to control the flow of these cats, the only providers of them, the Adahlen farmers within Vassalstar tend to strip their lives back as kittens to only one. They do this because a Cat'Sith can only reproduce if it has more than 3 lives. After that, they become infertile.   There are small populations of Cat'Sith within the Underbelly, particularily used within western Dark Elven settlements and the mountaious fungal enviroment of the south west. You generally have to barter with the Adahlen to get a fertile one, and give up something pretty heavy. Otherwise, infertile ones range from 15gp to 50gp.
