"The School of Evocation is one of the most recognizable branches of magic; who wouldn't know the terrors of the fireball, or blessings on a healing spell? These are the type of spells every kid hopes to perform when they dream of becoming mages. Powerful Evokers strike fear in the hearts of their enemies and get cheers from their allies.
With evocation, discipline and willpower are particularly important to master, so the magic doesn't turn back to its caster. Self-control is the biggest asset of the bringer of doom for anyone that can hold powers of life or destruction in their hands."— The Great Wizard Lorenzo
When detecting this type of magic it appears as Bright Red.
Referred to as Evokers or Warmages, these cunning mages are the first stop for any royalty to go to when they seek raw firepower. The color of evocation in bright red, passionate as the power itself. It has a feel of rush that makes one feel alive. When using elemental magics, feel imitates the element, otherwise, it is like a burst of pure life and destruction passing through one's body. Evocation feels wild and earnest, often offering an authentic feel of untamed power.
Evocation spells can be roughly divided into five different categories, depending on their usages. (Note there is some overlap between the groups.)
Control Of Light
Light bends on the whims of evocation, that can snuff it out or make it burn so bright that it radiates damaging light to its targets. Control of light is particularly useful or dangerous when dealing with creatures that rely on sight.
Some Light-type spells include: Dancing Lights, Darkness, Daylight and Guiding Bolt
Elements
Elements are particularly eager to respond to evoker's command. Energy surges to use a natural element as a weapon or a shield to the caster's aid.
Some elemental spells include: Fireball, Lightning Bolt, Ray of Frost and Gust of Wind
Healing
Pure energy isn't just for doing damage, but can also be used to close wounds and heal injuries. This more gentle approach of evocation is seen among clerics and paladin as gift of their gods, or in bards and druid's with their special connection to their respective sources of power.
Some healing spells include: Cure Wounds, Heal, Aura of Vitality and Healing Word
Energy Constructions
Some times, a caster can use pure energy to form projectiles and other types of objects to hurt their enemies or aid their endeavors.
Some construct spells include: Force Cage, Magic Missile, Spiritual Weapon and Bigby's Hand
Energy Transfer
Energy can also be transferred through evocation to deliver messages, enforce an item, or strengthen or hurt those around the caster. Similarly to Transmutation magic, these spells can alter, if less intricately, target's qualities for short periods of time.
Some transfer-type spells include: Telepathy, Holy Weapon, Hallow and Divine Favor
