General Summary
Session #1
The group begins as they are being chained together and taken into a colosseum. Within moments, they are thrusted into the arena to fight for survival against gnolls and other foes. All slaves that survive are given the option to serve the Empress or die.
Amidst all this, an Envoy from the Poison King comes forth with offerings of water and earth. It very soon becomes apparent that this is all a ploy and a giant snake appears in the colosseum and attacks the Empress, mortally wounding her.
Many slaves, including our protagonists, manage to escape the arena. The group tries to leave the city but are acosted by a group of guards that see through their disguises. Fortunately a stranger (Kyros), puts a spell on the captain of the guard and leads the group to a safe location. Here, they meet with Kyros' boss, Salazar.
Salazar is an advisor to the Empress that seems to have a network of spies working under him to keep the Empire safe. The protagonists are given the option to work for him and earn their freedom or take their luck and most likely be slaves again, if not dead.
