Elfborn

Elfborn are a subspecies born from a human and an elven parent and can be found all over Somelion. Depending on which parent had the more dominant genes, they can vary greatly in their physical and magical ability, but almost always have at least a bit of magical affinity from their elven heritage, as well as the improvisational minds of their human parents.

Basic Information

Anatomy

The appearance of elfborn varies greatly, depending on the dominance of their parents' genes. While elfborn usually tend to be quite tall and slender, their facial structure can range from the oval shape of their human ancestors to the longer faces of the elves. Their ears are always at least a bit pointy, but can grow as long as elven ears. They usually have blonde or brown hair, rarely red or black, and their eyes are typically colored green, blue or brown. Like fullblooded elves, elfborn need not to build up muscle to achieve feats of strength, as the aetherial energy flowing through their veins enhances their physical properties.

Genetics and Reproduction

Elfborn can reproduce with elves and humans, as well as other elfborn. Their pregnancies last approximately nine months. If an elfborn procreates with a human or elf, their offspring tends to go after their partner's species.

Growth Rate & Stages

Elfborn enter puberty between ages ten and fifteen. They are fully developed at age twenty-five. Unlike humans, their innate magical abilities stop them from aging noticably until the age of eighty, when their hair and eyes start to lose their color.

Additional Information

Perception and Sensory Capabilities

The magical heritage of their elven ancestors allows for heightened senses. They can hear and see better than most humans, but are unable to see the aetherial structure of their surroundings like elves.
