Dwarfbloods
Dwarfbloods are a commonly-encountered subspecies stemming from a dwarf and a human or elf. They are said to combine the natural craftiness of dwarves with the improvisational skills of humans or the magical affinity of elves. The most prominent smiths and jewelcrafters around Somelion are dwarfbloods.
Basic Information
Anatomy
At first glance, Dwarfbloods appear to look like humans, even if one of their parents is an elf. They typically have oval faces and slightly pointy ears if one of their parents is an elf. Dwarfbloods are usually slightly smaller than the average human, but have a wider frame and a naturally muscular build. Like their dwarven ancestors they are immune to disease and highly resistant to poison.
Genetics and Reproduction
Dwarfbloods can only successfully reproduce with humans and elves, as well as other dwarfbloods. A dwarfblood pregnancy lasts around nine months, creating the same problem of premature birth that female humans and elves face when being impregnated by fullblooded dwarves.
Growth Rate & Stages
Dwarfbloods enter puberty at around age fifteen. At age thirty, they reach adulthood and have fully developed. At the age of seventy to one-hundred, depending on their non-dwarven parent, they start to lose the color in their hair, which often also stars to fall out.
Additional Information
Perception and Sensory Capabilities
Like dwarves, dwarfbloods can see in the dark. They are not naturally resistant to magic and can use it just like humans or elves.
