The Seelie

The Seelie are to Elves what Sabre tooth tigers are to house cats. They are the wild undomesticated and incredibly powerful True Fey, the distant immortal ancestors to the Elves. They exist primarily in a Near Dimension, living slightly out of phase and overlapping with the mortal realm. Certain natural and arcane phenomenon can create temporary bridges between the two worlds as well as powerful rites and rituals performed by skilled casters. In a technical sense, the Seelie need nothing from the mortal world. They are immortal and ageless and their world is full of every imaginable art and luxury. But the Seelie world is slightly unreal, more illusion than substance. Thus the Seelie are notorious tricksters and bargainers, parting mortals from their goods through deception, illusion and clever, intricate wordplay. They especially love sweet foods, music and art and the young. Despite this tendency the Seelie are more like powerful children than true evil. They seek lives of pleasure and luxury and wish no particular ill will on the world. However, the more powerful a Fey being grows they more...particular they become. Some develop obscure obsessions or dangerous inclinations that can lead to harm to mortals. Thankfully the more powerful a Fey becomes it also becomes equally difficult for them to cross over necessitating work through servants and intermediaries.
