Elemental-Kin

Unlike the worlds of The Astral Sea, fully formed material realms with unique peoples and histories, there are many near-planes called Outer Dimensions. Uniquely aligned planes of reality which intersect with all material worlds, imparting and receiving their natures to and from these worlds. The peculiar worlds of Faery , the Dream realm, the morally aligned planes like The Heavenly Realms and The Abyssal Realms  All of these worlds flow in and out of the mortal world, leaving their influence and reflecting in their nature something of each world. The Elemental Planes, Air, Earth, Fire and Water, are some of the closest planes to the mortal realms. Magic users often tap into these realms to fuel their abilities or summon beings from their depths. Elemental creatures of sufficient power have even been known to pierce through the gap between worlds at places of elemental convergence. All of these comings and goings and goings on have left the mortal world littered with elemental residue, pockets of dense elemental energy. While some Elemental-Kin are bred by the mingling of mortal races and elemental spirits, far more are the product of these elemental influences, elementally touched children born to mortal parents. Elemental-Kin are usually identified by their plane of elemental ancestry, Ifrit from Fire, Sylph from Air, Oread from Earth and Undine from Water. These mortals contain within them an infinitesimal gate to their respective Elemental Plane. They continuously draw power from this connection and can use it to enhance themselves or their magics in ways aligned with their elemental nature. Elemental-Kin have the full range of mortal personality types but the influence of their respective natures is often a profound influence. Ifrits tend to be passionate, easily angered and haughty. Oreads tend to be patient and far-sighted, focusing on slow movements towards long term goals. Sylph tend to be erratic and unpredictable. Undine tend to be even-tempered and prone to moving as events carry them.
