The Braelin Empire is the site of the original Emergence. After the Sun Sickness Calamity ended, mankind returned to the surface world at Golden Harbor. From there, the Braelin Empire expanded aggressively, claiming much of northeast Opandii.
Braelor is bordered to the north by the Slynnwynn Wilds and the Untamed Ocean. To the east lies Wistreun, to the west, Khir Dhorul, and to the south, across the Valeshift Sea lies Jatha.

Military
The Empire boasts the largest organized military in the world. Military service is mandatory for most able-bodied persons within the empire. Currently, however, the Empire is experiencing a great lack of iron , which has made outfitting the army somewhat difficult.
Religion
Only five Gods are officially recognized in Braelor, though only four are allowed to be worshiped by her citizens. Tyr, Chauntea, Sune, and Lathandar make up the Holy Tetrad, and though the Raven Queen is recognized as a Goddess, there are no temples dedicated to her in the Empire.
Individuals may worship their own deities privately, as long as no houses of public worship are constructed in their honor. However, being too vocal about unsanctioned gods may garner a visit from the Storm Sentinels.

Foreign Relations
Braelor is most closely allied with Jatha.
Tension between Braelor and Khir Dhorul is constantly flaring up, and many bloody conflicts have occurred between the two nations.

Most trade is conducted by sea, and there are many large port cities in Braelor. The largest, of course, being Golden Harbor.
