Summary: Auriane and Kolbrá have a fraught conversation by the cookfires, as the boat crew prepares the scorpions. Auriane does not approve of the arranged marriage that Kolbrá is embarking on, Kolbrá questions Auriane's sense of duty. We get a flashback of Frederic Chopin convincing Auriane to flee her homeland to travel into Ashes in shame, as she failed to protect his brother Cedric Chopin when they were ambushed.
