Solar Ruin

2603

Created by

In 2159, Earth, the birthplace of humanity was bathed in Nuclear fire, and humanity was erased from its surface, but that was not the end of the human story. In the years prior to that fateful day humanity had spread across the Solar System, Mars had been partially terraformed with viable human colonies dating back as far as 80 years, while satellite colonies stretched as far as even distant Neptune.   On the day that Earth burned, the Solar System had been at war, but with the death of Earth came the death of the Old Nations, and the many colonies were suddenly left adrift, to try and find their own paths. With the death of Old Earth the Solar System was plunged into a century of war and strife, as the remnants of these old nations continued their battle long beyond the deaths of their nations. Eventually humanity would crawl out of the chaos, into a Solar System filled with new nations of all kinds, some clinging to the memories of the old world, and others striking out to try new ideas, and 200 years of (relative) peace and stability followed.   Now the Solar system is once again sliding into total war. The Inner System is in chaos, Mars, the new cradle of humanity is divided between two hostile superpowers, while pirates and zealots wreak havoc across previously safe space. Beyond the Asteroid Belt the mysterious JDL watches, long wary of the Inner System, something appears to have riled them up, and now their ships have been sighted as far as Venus. All the while something stirs on Earth, new signals are being detected as it appears the Dead Cradle may not be as dead as it was once assumed.
