Once a street meat vendor, he met Rakel in Razor Rock. They became investigative partners going after a crew of Magpies that were stealing from the coalition of street food vendors. It was revealed in the crew's battle with Foulmouth Ferrous and Beowulf that he shared a past gang affiliation with Wake, Cinder, Ferrous, and Beowulf. He also owes a great debt to Petey Wheatstraw, who resurrected his brother Guster after Johnny Marconi shot him. Rakel and Zephyr later became lovers and he joined the crew as the ship's chef.
