Abbot Island

Abbot Island is an island in the Northeastern Solace, located in Tellum County on Lake Solace. Known for being a popular, affluent colony, Abbot Island grew as a tourist destination primarily because of its very pleasant summer weather (during summers, the temperature rarely breaks 90 °F (32 °C) and many beautiful beaches. The fishing industry and the many vineyards that dot the landscape keep the island quite wealthy.   It is also home to one of the largest known deaf communities in Solace; consequently, a sign language, the Abbot Sign Language, emerged on the island among both deaf and hearing islanders. This is due to the island's namesake, a monk named Jiro Bennet, who founded the abbey there and taught people with no means of healing their disabilities how to live better quality lives with them. The monks of Abbot Island still aid the disabled to this day and create tools to aid them in their everyday lives.
