Amulet of the Silent Veil
Description:
A small, smooth obsidian pendant carved into the shape of a raven’s feather, polished to a deep, almost glassy shine. The surface seems to absorb light rather than reflect it, giving it a subtle aura of quiet mystery.
Function and Lore:
The amulet was crafted by Calem, the mute wizard who co-founded the Silent Remnant alongside Eira. Though voiceless, Calem’s magic speaks volumes—this enchantment is one of his most elegant creations.
The amulet acts as a personal shield against the guild’s muting enchantment. While worn, the bearer retains their voice and can communicate freely. But once the amulet is removed or stashed within the walls of the Silent Remnant’s hidden headquarters, the silence takes hold. Voices vanish, and only gestures and knowing glances remain.
Members describe the ritual of setting aside the amulet as “laying down their voice”—a symbolic gesture that marks the shift from their outer identity to the invisible work they do in the shadows.
Symbolism:
Shaped like a raven’s feather, the amulet represents vigilance, secrecy, and transformation. Its quiet power mirrors Calem himself: a man without a voice, yet instrumental in shaping a world of silence.
