A Black Cat

The Witch's Cat

I'm sure many of you have heard that Black Cat's are bad luck, however I would like to tell you that that is simply not true. Black Cat's are not bad luck. Black Cat's are spies.

To explain, I'm surey you know that witches are known for having black cat's. (They're also known for having other animals, but we can talk about those later). The Black Cat is used as a spy for witches. The cat will wander around town gathering information for their owner, and occasionally performing other errands for the witch.

Usage

Besides being used as a spy the Black Cat is a great helper and companion to its owner . The witches who had Black Cats would usually ask for their assistance in spells or potions. Occasionally the Black Cat would create their own potion, although these potions were specifically tailored to other cats. (Things like “insta-mouse” were not a huge hit in the witch community, but the other cats thought it was genius)

Abilities

The specific talents of a Black Cat are not entirely known. However, it is believed that the Cats are able to understand their owners, but do not have the ability to speak or reply. That's why Black Cats are so good at doing errands and jobs for their owners. Black Cats also have a very rare ability among other animals, but is quite common in Black Cats to have an affinity for magic.

It is thought that a Black Cat actually advances a withces powers, although there is no proof for this the myth grew popular among the wizarding community and Black Cats grew more and more popular.

Personality

A Black Cat behaves like most cats, nice, and gentle sometimes, others standoffish and aloof the next. But the biggest difference between Black Cats and regular cats is that Black Cats don't sleep as often, and are quite active nocturnal creatures.

Black Cats like to wonder from place to place and usually don't settle down in one place, but because of their affinity for magic they can get easily attached to magic users.

History

Black Cats grew to be very popular during the witch hunts of early Verinar years. The Black Cats were a way for the wizarding community to stay updated about the world, and not risk going outside. However, the witches and wizards with Black Cats didn't realize that using a Black Cat shortens its lifespan.

When wizards and witches started using these Black Cats to spy on them, they would use certain spells to see through the Black Cats eyes. These spells would harm the Black Cat and shorten its lifespan, causing it to die prematurely.

Wizards and witches using the Black Cats so extensively during this time caused them to die out, and even though there may be one or two more Black Cats they are rarely ever seen, and are considered extinct.
