The first time that the hunting technique was used, was in 2017 by the Balloon Fox Hunter Anna Mueller. She used the fascination and the curiosity of her prey for the weird, magical balloon she placed to sneak onto them from a blind spot.
The dangerous alpha of the balloon foxes soon taught this technique to her family members and after it was documented on video in secret, it spread like wildfire under the Balloonmancer hunters. Even potential prey who knew about the technique was often fooled as they were taken by surprise and realized too late that the dangerous magical balloon was just the decoy for a second one, sneaking onto them and trapping them.
Nowadays, the decoy balloon technique is one of the most often used hunting techniques for any Balloonmancer and often combined with hypnotic effects placed onto the decoy balloon.

Execution
The Balloonmancer creates a single Balloon as a decoy. This decoy balloon is often extremely shiny and plays with the light that is reflected from its surface, making it appealing to observe it for a while.
Prey who looks too long at the balloon is the target of the Hunter. The balloon takes all or at least enough attention to itself, while a second, silent balloon will sneak onto the prey from either behind, above, or from any kind of blind spot. The prey who observes the shiny balloon will realize too late that they were fooled and will end up trapped in the second balloon in no time. The hunt was a success and the hunter can now play with their prey.
Components and tools
Magical Balloons or Bubbles are used for this technique. It is important that they are eye-catching and fascinating to look at. Any kind of hypnotic effect or shiny reflection on it helps to catch the prey's attention long enough to sneak onto them from behind.
