Bubble Day In The Hordes of Harant

Written by GoldLinaric
Bubble Day is a celebration through out the The Sylvan Queendoms  This festival celebrates the Goddess Sylvia. Each Queendom does however celebrate it differently and at different dates, However most dates actually tend to fall around the same time in Spring.   For the Horde of Harant the celebration of Sylvia falls as Spring fully takes over from the cold winter, and most importantly when animals roam the plains. With the warm wind and dry lands The Centaur are eager to greet the Spring and their Goddess. The Goddess not only represents bubbles and nature to them but the Queendoms as a whole. As they travel far and wide, they've grown to appreciate not only the world in which they live but their neighbors and fellow worshipers.

The Grand Bazaar

The Bazaar slowly sets up over the week prior to the grand day. Traders and travelers set up shops showcasing the variety of goods and knowledge they've acquired over the past years, some to sell, some to share and some just to show off. Harantfest becomes lively as the Bazaar takes off. Foods from the various nations, toys, games, tales. But one of the unique features has been pet trainers and sellers.  This is not normal domesticated animals, but rather people. People willingly offering themselves to others. Be it for a short time or more permanent arrangements. Trainers including Queen Topia show case their methods and allow brief terms under their guiding hands to show case the profession. The also try to enforce the mindset that a Pet is family and not a servant. There is even a raffle for two positions in The Queen's stables, One as an apprentice Trainer and one as a pet to be trained.

The Battle of Harantfest

In the afternoon on Bubble Day, The Queen gathers people in the fields outside of the city. She recalls tales of the War of the Gods and the many deeds of the Centaurs. She then offer praise for the Goddess. Once this ceremony is over a mock battle transpires. The centaurs and any willing guest and battle with bubble producing weapons. The battle lasts for hours as the combatants engage in a free for all to try and catch each other. As the sun sets the battle is considered finished and all are released.

The Feast of Harant

Following the battle, everyone gathers in or around the grand hall. A massive feast is prepared and shared. Foods and drinks from across the Queendoms are shared. The evening is filled with singing, tale telling, and for those able dancing. The feast lasts well into the night even with some falling asleep in the halls.

History

Back during the War of the Gods Centaurs were considered a great warriors to Sylvia their high mobility and reach managed to allow them to push back many of the initial attacks. With their great Queen Harant leading many successful campaigns. Even though the Queen fell before the retreat to the holy lands, her deeds are still remembered. It was her memory that lead to the Battle of Harant tradition that started the Celebration of Bubble Day in the Horde of Harant.   However as battle became less relevant in the Queendom and The Centaurs started to settle more into roles as traders and hunters, the festival evolved to show case their hunts through a feast. And their acquisitions through the Bazaar which initially showcased a slave market.   However, as Queen Topia grew to age and took the leadership of the Horde, an effort to remove the slave market and replace it with a more kinder focus on pets, which were treated more kindly. There was much push back for many years until the practice of force Slavery ended with the acknowledgement of The Queendom Of Humans.

Execution

The Day is meant to celebrate the conquests of the Centuar and each aspect of the day does so. The Bazaar show cases their success as traders bringing home not just goods and supplies, but pets and servants to add to their nation. The Battle showcases their memories of past success and their dedication to defend their lands should trouble ever arise again. And the Feast to celebrate their skills as hunting and foraging. While the focus does appear to be solely on their exploits, they do still honor the Goddess as to them it is by her blessing that they succeed.
