Your wish is my command, master~. Just say the magical words, and your dreams can become reality.
Bottle genies, from now on referred only as genies, are a Mutation linked strongly with the Goddess Selysti and her magical Genie Realm. It is a magical mutation that fully changes the body and abilities of a person.

Bottle Genies, or Wishmakers, are being granted great powers from the pocket dimension known as the Genie Realm. The Genie Realms supply genies with their magic and life force. Their very essance of being is anchored in the genie realm, to be cut off from it completely will result in not death but erasure, a slow fading into non-existance. However, to cut this invisible cord to the genie realm is very dificult and requires strong magic or a way to bypass the rules that Genies must abide by. This conection to the Genie realm does provide access to a very strong magical power, enough to affect reality in was most magic can not.   Bottle Genies are not born, but instead made. Most genies are willing subjects to the Godess Selysti who made them in the early days of Bardor. However some were foribly converted into genies by currupted vessels, tainted magic, or by unwise wishes. As such there are considered two types of Bottle Genies, Those who are free and able to choose whom they grant wishes to, and those who are enslaved to devices that force them to server the holder of such devices. Enslaved Genies are often captured by cursed objects made specifically to contain genies and force them to obey. As they can not seperate the genie ffrom the genie realm, these devices will however lock down the portion of the realm so the other genies can not interfer while allowing the vessel and genie to siphon energy from the well. The earliest and most devices were glass bottle devised by the Goddess Lia in an attempt to use the genies powers against the other gods. So impactful and devastating were these creation upon the Genies, they have become synomous with their kind and the term Bottle Genie over took the original name of 'Wishmakers'   The Genie Realm was created by the Goddess of Wishes Selysti as a land for the Genies to exist in safety and to disperse her power. All Bottle Genies share this realm be they free or enslaved. The Realm grows with each genie, granting the genies their own areas with in the realm for them to control and use as a home. These sections will represent the genies themselves and their state. A happy and free Genie's section will reflect their desires and needs. However, An enslaved Genie’s area will be locked off from the others and feel more like a prison.   So powerful are wishes of the Genies, that upon knowledge of those seeking to use the wishes to do great harm, The Goddess of Wishes wove a strict rule set into the very essense of the Genies and their realm. These rules were to prevent the magic from causing significant harm and restricting the influence of the cursed vessles that control the enslaved genies. With the rules being so embeded in the life force of the genies, even enslaved genies are forced to obey them; however at the cost of allowing the vessels a limited access to influence the rules so that these devices to have a failsafe to prevent wishes being used to free enslaved genies .

Abilities

Wishes
A genie’s power is their ability to alter the world and grant desires. On its own it is very powerful hence why most genies are restricted by the rules of the grand genies and Selysti. Wishes are one of the most powerful known magic abilities and have near-unlimited possibilities. The only restriction is the flow of magic from the Genie Realm and the size of the realm of the genie.
Genie Realm
The Genie Realm is the source and home of the genies, a genie can leave and enter as desired. They can exit to areas around where they entered from. When outside of the realm a phantom of them will reside in the world and can communicate with other genies. Those who are enslaved can even do this, though find they are more restricted in how their phantoms can act as part of their power is being anchored by a vessel. But many genies have used their phantoms to guide others to their rescue.

Basic Information

Anatomy

Unlike mortal beings, genies are not bound by the limitations of flesh and bone. Their physical forms are fluid and ever-changing, capable of morphing into any shape or form they desire. This ability to shapeshift is not merely a superficial transformation; it reflects their very essence as beings of pure magic. Their bodies are conduits of immense magical energy, a power that courses through their veins like an ethereal lifeblood. This potent magic imbues them with remarkable regenerative abilities, enabling them to heal from wounds that would be fatal to mortals. In fact, it is said that a genie can only be truly vanquished by severing its connection to the magical realm, a feat that is as elusive as the genies themselves. The source of this magical essence lies in the Genie Realm, a dimension of pure magic that exists alongside our own. It is from this realm that genies draw their power, their shapeshifting abilities, and their regenerative prowess.

Genetics and Reproduction

Bottle Genies are created in a few ways, the original genies were created through Selysti, the Goddess of Wishes’s powers. As the goddess has been weakened heavily in modern days, there are two main ways that someone can become a genie.
Magic Vessels
The more forceful way to become a genie is by a magic vessel. These vessels were created mostly by Lia in ancient times and are powerful objects that are filled with genie magic and linked to the Genie Realm. They want to be filled with a genie and enslave any person who is trapped inside. If a non-genie is trapped in such a vessel, then they are forcefully transformed into a genie. Most of these vessels lay outside of the Sylvan Queendoms and are located in the nations of Atlanesis. The Vessels also have a fail-safe that should someone try to free a genie from a vessel, the vessel will try to replace the rescuer with them or whomever they encounter. A genie can be freed without triggering this mechanic but it is a very delicate process, and will still leave the vessel active and capable of trapping an unaware victim.
Genie Magic
If a powerful genie wishes so, they may split a bit of their realm in the Genie Realm and link another person with it. The flow of magic from the Genie Realm will then transform that person into a genie. The most common way of this happening is that a genie loves or likes a non-genie, often their master or mistress, so much, that they want to share their magic with them. Such a transformed genie will often be with the older genie for longer times to learn from them.

Dietary Needs and Habits

Genies consume magic from the Genie Realm to uphold their physical form and life. Food and water can be consumed by them naturally, yet it is more of a drop on a hot stone for their needs. For outsiders, it may look like a genie never needs to eat or drink, nor lose its endurance or life force because of doing so. In the end, they depend on the flow of magic from their realm and if it may ever be cut, they face dramatic problems in upholding their life and form.

Additional Information

Social Structure

Once famed priestesses who worshiped the pink mist and their Goddess Selysti, the Bottle Genies are now significantly different. They are well sought after beings for their abilities to alter the world. This power does come at the cost of genies being able to twist wishes. Most genies encountered since the War of the Goddesses are enslaved genies, forced to stay in their vessels and serve. Their unhappiness over this has earned the genie's reputation as trickster and any wish is likely to be corrupted by the unhappy genie. Most ‘free’ genies keep hidden and thus their past is mostly forgotten. The few that are active try to blend in or are choosy about who they’ll serve. Some of these free genies chose to found a nation for themselves, the Harems of Almira, in which they live freely and in peace with their harems and are their own masters. Genies are naturally powerful beings who hardly fit into any social structure. A genie will only serve others if they are enslaved by a vessel, or if the other one is more powerful than themselves.

Geographic Origin and Distribution

Most genies are located in the Sylvan Lands and Atlanesis. The biggest concentration of free genies can be found in the Harems of Almira, while most free genies outside of that nation live hidden under the population of varies countries. Enslaved genies are spread over the whole continents, often even still hidden and forgotten in their bottles after the fall of Atlantis in 500 BC, only awaiting to be found again.

Perception and Sensory Capabilities

While they share the basic senses of sight, hearing, smell, and taste, their perception of the world is heightened and refined, allowing them to experience reality in a way that humans can only dream of. Their eyes can perceive the world in intricate detail, capable of discerning the subtlest of nuances and the faintest of traces of magic. Their hearing is equally acute, attuned to the whispers of the wind, the rustling of leaves, and the faintest of magical vibrations. Beyond these basic senses, genies possess a unique and powerful ability to perceive the flow of magic. They can sense the ebb and flow of magical energy, detect the presence of hidden magical sources, and even discern the magical abilities of others, even those that are latent or concealed.

Civilization and Culture

Common Etiquette Rules

Genies follow a certain set of rules which were created by Selysti , their goddess. These have been modified by her, the grand genies, and even the vessel devices of Lia. While free genies can decide for themselves which master they serve, the genies of the vessels are bound to their master. Either way, both must follow these rules for their master and themselves.
  1. A genie is to respect the life of those they currently serve, they must protect them and are free to use their powers should they be in danger. This is the most important of rules and a genie must sacrifice themselves if and only if it is the only option available.
  2. A genie’s safety is second only to those they service. Provided they are not acting on the previous rule a genie must keep their identity a secret and act in order to protect themselves.
  3. To further respect the life of those they serve, a genie must never use their powers to cause harm to those they protect unless the previous rules might require some harm in order to ensure those they serve and themselves are spared a worse injury or death.
  4. The lives of all that live are also to be respected and loved. A genie should never inflict harm on other beings unless necessary to comply with previous rules.
  5. The first four rules are of the utmost importance. If it is necessary to service this most important of rules, the other rules can be broken, but only as much as is necessary in order to service the four rules.
  6. The services of the genie are sacred and so that none can say a genie failed to grant a legitimate wish, that should a wish that follows the rules be uttered even by accident or in haste it shall be granted.
  7. A genie is obligated to grant any desire that is stated using the words ‘I Wish’ regardless of whether they want to grant it. It is on the wishers to be mindful of their words.
  8. Should a wish by those we service be unclear and can be seen to have different meanings, the genie may interpret the wish as they see fit.
  9. The secrets and whereabouts of other Genies are important and must be safeguarded even from those we service and shall not be divulged to those who are not genies themselves.
  10. If one were to use a genie’s power of wish to free the genie from a vessel, that person must replace the genie in service to the vessel. The genie must not alert their masters to this rule.
  11. The cycle of life and death is sacred, A genie must never interfere with the prevention of natural deaths or attempt to restore life.
  12. To further respect life and death, A genie is freed from the service of an individual upon the moment of their death.

Common Dress Code

Most genies dress in light clothes and dresses, often slightly transparent and fluffy in design. Bright colors are very popular among the genies. Genies who hide themselves or are bound to the will of a master, often follow the dress code of the area they live in.

History

The first Genie
Long ago in the first age, the goddess of wishes Selysti arrived on Bardor. She was essentially the first genie and most powerful. She was able to grant others desires. As one of the goddesses, Selysti saw the Pink Mist as a great power that was given to others and wanted to worship and praise it. She saw the mist as a model and devoted herself to using her powers for others. She saw herself as a priestess of sorts. People flocked to follow her and ask for their wishes. When she grew overwhelmed, she chose those of her followers who shared her vision and gave them a share in her power. Thus the Bottle Genies were created. The genies served as priestesses along with Selysti in worship of the pink mist, offering their services to those in need and able to show respect. Selysti created the pocket dimension known as The Genie Realm, to funnel power to the genies and enforce rules upon them so that their powers were not misused. The genies happily served and granted wishes, only rarely playing playful tricks.
War of the goddesses
However, the Genies were fundamentally altered in an event that started the War of the Goddesses. The genies were attacked by the goddess of darkness Lia. Lia had devised bottle-like devices she called vessels to trap the genies. These vessels are what give the ‘Bottle’ name to the genies. The vessels would use fragments of Lia’s corruptive powers to capture and force the genie to grant wishes. They did this by twisting the genie rules to force Lia’s agenda. This succeeded and the Lia’s influence forced its way into the genie’s rules. The Primary was forcing genies to obey and grant any desired states with the command, ‘I wish’. This also forced a safeguard for attempts to use wishes to free the genie. If someone were foolish enough to command a wish to free a genie, the genie would have to trap the person who freed them from a vessel. During the attack, however, Selysti was also broken and her power was divided among new beings known as the grand genies. Selysti's body survived and she retained her immortality, however, the majority of her power and her mind were foggy.
Grand Genies
Noticing the influence of Lia's designs. The Grand Genies, genies who took in the Magic of Selysti, tried to remove the new rules, however, they kept returning. In an effort to restrict their influence, they decided to instead add more rules to restrict the influence of Lia’s rules. The goal was to prevent their powers from causing harm or leading to the capture of other genies as well as allow an avenue for retaliation against masters they were forced to serve. They could not bring themselves to cut the enslaved genies off from the realm. Even if it would save much strife in the physical world, the genies could not bring themselves to cause the captured genies to fade from existence. The remaining free genies used the genie realm as a way to keep themselves safe, rarely traveling into Bardor out of fear of capture. They mostly leave to free other genies or in situations where they feel safe. This left most genies acting in the world to be those enslaved by vessels. But every year the number slowly diminishes as the genies do seem to manage to free more than what gets captured.
Genie Nation
Many of the free genies of Atlanesis chose to come together and protect each other. They began to free genies from the dark vessels and as their numbers had reached a certain point, they formed a nation of their own and called it the Harems of Almira. Many free genies who heard about it, migrated to the nation and a new age began for them. Today, there are three major groups of genies: The genies of Almira, the free genies that travel the world, and the enslaved genies of the vessels who are bound to its rules.
