Following the Scholar

The scholar’s interest in Ophimae had seemed suspicious and almost fanatical. Following her from the shadows, she leads you to an extensive library in the middle of the museum. Hiding among the shelves you can overhear her talking to another scholar.

“I’m glad to see they’ve actually hired someone. Hopefully they can bring the painting back.” She sighed. “My research is at a standstill as it stands.”

Stepping out of the shadows, you approach the scholar again. You brace yourself for the inevitable torrent of unrelated information as you ask if her research might have some clues as to the painting’s location, letting her know the Keeper suspects it’s still in the museum.

She launches into her theories and you hang on long enough to get to the relevant information. “There are documents that mention secret passages in the museum.” She pauses a moment in thought. “If you do find it, I could make it worth your while to let me come and spend some alone time with it. Then you can return it and collect your big reward.”

It occurs to you that you could just bring the scholar with you, but the chatter might drive you insane.
