Order of the Storm

The Order of the Storm was originally a campaign medal given to soldiers who had been wounded during the Medusa V campaign and managed to return to their units. With the increase of activity around Cadia at the same time, which preceded increased numbers of warp storms, culminating in the Great Rift, the Departmento Munitorum amended the remit giving it to soldiers who had fought, been wounded and returned to frontline service in any campaign since Medusa V.
Any unit who fights in two different campaigns, received an additional bar with the campaign name on it, which are worn at the same time, leading to such variants being know as "double eagles", "triple eagles" and so on.

Significance

In game terms, it is a fluff only award, given any unit which takes part in 5 narrative campaign/crusade battles.

Due to the increase in campaigns the Imperium finds itself fighting, following the Indomitus Crusade, this medal is becoming more and more common across the Imperium

Raw materials & Components

The medal takes the form of a white ribbon, divided by a red cross which is suspended from a gold bar, in the stylised form of the winged skull emblem of the Astra Militarum. Beneath the ribbon is suspended an onyx double-headed Imperial eagle, with two crossed gold lightening bolts superimposed on top.
The uniform ribbon, is merely a compressed version of the red cross on the white background
