Drakenstein Blood Legacy

The "Drakenstein Blood Legacy" is a hereditary blood condition, named so for its prominance in the Drakenstein ruling house of the Gothika sub-sector.

The Drakenstein Blood Legacy is a Hereditary condition unique to the decendents of the Drakenstein nobel house.

Causes

The origin of this condition is unknown; one popular theory is that it is somehow a result of generations of exposure to the crystaline substance Sanguinite (more commonly known as "Bloodstones") which is harvested throughout the Gothikan system.

Symptoms

Though carriers of The Legacy do not always manifest all of the symptoms associated with it. The most common symptoms are: Red irises, pale skin, silvery hair and a minor light sensitivity.

Many previous members of House Drakenstein are also noted to have been extrodinarily long-lived, some living several centuries without the aid of rejuvenate treatment. Which is also thought to be as a result of the Drakenstein Blood Legacy.

Treatment

Aside from the occasional skinrash from exposure to intense light The Legacy is non-life threatening and requires no treatment.

One interesting sidenote however. Is that if those affected with The Legacy come into contact with large amounts sanguinite for an extended period of time; many of the symptoms associated with the condition temporarily intensify. i.e: eyes become redder, hair becomes lighter, etc.

Hosts & Carriers

Because of its hereditary nature, those affected with The Legacy are the ones that carry the condition and will pass it on to any of their offspring.

Cultural Reception

Due to its association with the Gothika ruling house. People with red eyes and silvery hair are often given reverential treatment within the Gothikan sector as it is seen as a sign of power and nobility.
