Badge of Valour: Kulak
The Badge of Valour: Kulak is a medal awarded to soldiers who took part in the conflicts in the Kulak System between the start of the Von Aurach Campaign up until the opening of the Great Rift.
It is a gold medal, suspended from a clasp on a ribbon of grey, with a central red stipe running down the middle, flanked on either side by a thin yellow border. The colours derive from the uniform and standard colours of the 3rd Kuati Infantry Regiment who provided the majority of the manpower and leadership during the Kulak campaign.
Now that the system is securely in Imperial hands, this medal is no longer awarded.
(In game terms, it has been given to any unit which was used in a game during 7th and 8th edition Warhammer 40,000)
History
During this period, a great amount of fighting took place within the Kulak system with the liberation of Kulak IV and the Defence of Revelor being the most well known campaigns. In grabbing a foothold for the crusade to operate out of relied on the sacrifice of countless millions of guardsmen, ratings and officers from various branches of the Imperium and as such the Departmento Munitorum issued this medal to all those who fought to bring the system back into the Emperor's light.
Significance
To be awarded this, a guardsman, guardswoman, rating, officer or servant of the Departmento Munitorum must have been deployed in an active combat zone in the Kulak theatre at least once. This award is not recognised by the Astartes who fought in the system for they have their own awards and commendations. Multiple deployments do not garner a further award
