commander levi indigo (a.k.a. celadon reed)
celadon reed was born Levi indigo in the Spanish district of hexagon city.
He went to the military university
after graduating, he was given a unit to command.
This unit was sent to quell the anti-slavery riots.
The military hegemony ordered him to fire into a crowd.
An order he would regret following for the rest of his life
in the ensuing massacre he was charged by an ursine and lost an arm but survived the counter-charge by the unarmed students.
Afterwards, the entire massacre was laid on him, and he was sent to prison.
The hegemony, on the other hand, decided to give him a new identity and rehabilitate him
he became celadon reed. A soldier who was injured in the massacre but did not share the blame that Levi indigo did.
for the rest of his life celadon reed would now pretend to be from the French district.
After his rehabilitation, he went into the exploration university.
Here he met fellow student Ninette Brandeis whom he befriended. their professor was petrichor quarts, a war hero from fighting pirates his entire life. After graduation, Ninette chose to enter the prefect university. While quartz offered them both a first mate position on his new exploration vessel THE FORWARD. celadon accepted.

He went to the military university

His unit was called in to police what they believed to be a riot, it actually turned out that a large group of students and ursine workers have built a barricade blocking the street to the indenture guild, tensions in the city having risen to this point. reed seeing a crowd chanting "freedom and education for all", requested new orders from hegemony command. he received the same order as before "arrest any violating indentured, and send students home," with only one addendum "lethal force authorised"
reed ordered his men intto a firing line, and ordered "fire at will"
after the first volley, the students hid behind the barricade, and returned fire. but the ursine stood their ground, several died. reed held back half his men. and the other half let loose another volley. after which the students returned fire. but reed told his men to fire as well. killing even more students out of cover. at this point, the bears seeing their dead friends and family was enraged. and charged reeds line. one of the bears caught reeds arm as he protected his face. the bear ripped reeds forearm off. reed reached for his gun. and shot the bear in the abdomen it was a futile but deadly shot. next he pulled his knife, and stabbed the bear into the brain cavity. after which he collapsed and passed out.
after he awoke, he was not only in the hospital, he was also under arrest. the official story being that he acted without orders. the technocracy singled him out for the blame for the massacre of students and bears.
