Silent Waste

The silent waste is a strange region of the sky where sound simply does not propagate. It is also simply known as the Silence. Be this in the empty sky, within a ship, or even in the celestial bodies found in this region. To travelers the utter silence is eerie and said to have driven countless mad. However the native inhabitants have adapted, and many evolved to make the everlasting silence their home. Beyond this one very strange peculiarity however, the silent waste is mostly unremarkable, housing few developed civilizations. The existence of the few that did emerge are however proof that communication and comradery can overcome even the greatest of barriers.
