Wayring
A wayring is an old ring with a quartz stone set in it that is magically able to open certain passways. During the times before the gods ascended, these were regularly created as keys to containers or doorways.
The process of creating such a ring is only obscurely known and the force with which a lock is held closed varies - and seems to be dependend on the skill that went into creating the wayring itself. Some ancient chambers and tombs from the time of the god's ascensions have yet to be opened as the corresponding wayring is lost to the ages.
A wayring usually consist of a silver, copper or golden band and has a colored quartz set into it. The form and color of the quartz varies but the stone is an integral part of the ring, usually holding the passive magic to open the corresponding doorway. A wayring can belong to multiple doorways.
Some secretive groups use these wayrings as a means of identification and verification amongst each other. These rings are usually way more inconspicuous.
