Smith Profession in Skeigham | World Anvil

Smith

A smith describes a mundane profession that deals in forming metal objects from wrought iron or steel through magical or mechanical means. This forming process includes hammering, bending and cutting the metal.

They work by heating pieces of metal until it becomes soft enough to be shaped with hand tools, such as a hammer, an anvil, and a chisel. Heating generally takes place in a forge but can also be done by magical means if the smith is appropriately gifted.

The techniques of a smith can be roughly dividd into forgin, welding, heat-treating and finishing.

A variant of the smith is the woodsmith, an elven profession. Here an elf is able to form a piece of naturally grown wood with tools, after softening it through magic. The process results in tools or weapons made of Ironbark, which are comparably sturdy to metal tools.

A notorious necromancer became known for forging bones and flesh into armor and weapons, using similar techniques as the woodsmiths.

Another necromancer fused metal into the bodies of his subjugates to increase their strength. He wiped out a full village as test-subjects during his early experiments./left]
