Bwimb
Bwimb, once a mighty ruler of the Elemental plane of ooze , was the predecessor to Bwimb II, the Slime Sovereign. Unlike his successor, Bwimb was more than a mindless force of consumption—he was an entity of curiosity, chaos, and slow, creeping dominion. Though many believe he was consumed by Bwimb II, some ancient texts claim he still exists, trapped within the endless mass of his former throne, waiting to reclaim what was once his.
Appearance
Unlike the towering, eldritch form of Bwimb II, the original Bwimb was more restrained in size but infinitely more deceptive. He was often depicted as a semi-humanoid figure made of thick, bubbling ooze, with shifting arms and a featureless face save for two glowing, acidic eyes. His form would constantly melt, reshape, and reform, reflecting his unpredictable nature.
Personality and Influence
Bwimb was unlike any other elemental ruler—where others sought conquest through brute force, Bwimb worked through slow assimilation and subterfuge. He did not need to wage war, for everything that lingered too long in his domain became part of him.
The Ever-Expanding Sovereign: Bwimb saw the world not as a place to rule, but as something to incorporate into himself. His dominion expanded without armies—simply by existing, his plane grew larger and more unstable.
Curious but Calculating: Unlike his successor, he took interest in mortal affairs and was known to converse with outsiders who entered his realm, often offering cryptic bargains.
Master of Slow Corruption: Bwimb did not seek immediate destruction. Instead, he preferred gradual decay, planting his essence in objects, creatures, and even entire civilizations, ensuring their eventual collapse into ooze.
The Fall of Bwimb
The fate of Bwimb is one of the great mysteries of the Elemental Planes. Some legends say he grew too ambitious, expanding too far, too fast—until the very fabric of the Plane of Ooze rejected him, creating Bwimb II in response. Others believe he was betrayed, slowly dissolved by the very slimes he once commanded.
The most widely accepted theory, however, is that Bwimb still exists—just not as he once was. His consciousness is said to be trapped within Bwimb II, a lingering whisper within the endless hunger of his successor. Some claim that those who approach Bwimb II’s core can still hear his voice, murmuring of a time before the Slime Sovereign took control.
Legacy and Remnants
Though he is gone, Bwimb’s influence remains:
The Lost Cults of Bwimb: Scattered remnants of his followers still seek to resurrect him, believing that if Bwimb II were destroyed, the original Bwimb would rise once more.
The Gluttonous Artifacts: Relics imbued with Bwimb’s essence still exist, able to corrupt and dissolve anything over time. Some say his greatest artifact, the Crown of Assimilation, lies buried in the Plane of Ooze.
The Shifting Marsh: A legendary location where Bwimb's last palace once stood, now a cursed, ever-changing mire that refuses to be mapped.
"He is gone, but he is everywhere. He does not rule, but he still spreads. Bwimb was never meant to end—only to change." – An inscription found in the Shifting Marsh.
