Freygarde

Nestled in the northernmost region of Eos, Freygarde, the capital of the Utharian nation, stands as a monumental testament to the Drow's adaptability, resilience, and sheer will to survive. The city is surrounded by a beautiful, surreal hue of perpetual twilight, crafted through the magic of Queen Nonsi and her clerics, keeping the harshness of natural daylight at bay.
  • Architectural Grandeur
Freygarde, despite its location on the surface, has retained the intricate architectural splendor reminiscent of the Underdark. Its grand spires, tall buildings, and cobblestone streets are illuminated by bioluminescent plants and fungi, which have been cultivated and utilized by the Drow since their time underground. Magical orbs float across the streets, providing an eerie yet beautiful glow that mimics the twilight above.
  • Center of Worship
At the heart of Freygarde lies the grand temple dedicated to Eilistraee, the benevolent goddess who guided the Drow to their new life on the surface. Her church actively operates within the temple's walls, leading rites of song and dance, with silvery moonlit rituals held at the temple's zenith every evening, filling the city with melodic harmony.
  • Seat of Power
Queen Nonsi's palace, a marvel of gothic architecture, stands dominant over the cityscape. The palace is more than a royal residence; it serves as a beacon of hope, the embodiment of Nonsi's ideals of equality and acceptance. Within its walls lies the secret training grounds of the Twilight Guard, and the air often resonates with the sounds of their blade dancing.
  • Hub of Diplomacy and Trade
Freygarde's neutral stance in continental politics has positioned it as a vital hub for trade and diplomacy. The Grand Market of Freygarde is a bustling center of commerce, with traders from all across Eos coming to barter, making it one of the most diverse places in the city. The Diplomatic Quarters, on the other hand, houses ambassadors and representatives from different nations, facilitating peaceful dialogues and negotiations.
  • Culture and Society
The streets of Freygarde are often filled with music, as bards play tales of Queen Nonsi's valor and the Drow's great escape from the Underdark. The annual Twilight Festival is a significant event, where the city celebrates its establishment on the surface with performances, feasts, and dances that last for days. In these times, the Twilight Guard often demonstrates their blade dancing to the public, reminding all of the protection they provide.
  • Defense and Security
While Freygarde thrives as a center of culture and trade, its security remains paramount. The city walls, crafted from enchanted stone, stand tall, ensuring any external threats are kept at bay. Guard towers are frequently manned by members of the Twilight Guard, ever vigilant and ready to defend their beloved capital.   In conclusion, Freygarde is more than just a capital; it's the heart and soul of the Utharian nation. It's a symbol of the Drow's transition from a life of subterranean darkness to one of twilight beauty on the surface.
