Dwarf

One of the dominant races of Carath. Dwarves continue to live all over the continent in small communities and clanholds. They are a thinly-spread but culturally-unified people, even across their handful of sub-races. They are a once-mighty race in decline; the dwarven birthrate is low, and cannot withstand the attrition suffered in wars against orcs, goblins, and worse, let alone keep pace with the population growth of humans. Dwarven culture emphasizes steadfastness, tradition, duty (to family, clan, and society), and a powerful work ethic.
