Toth

Language: Telugu

General Info

Have you ever imagined what it would be like if a mummy ruled a church or cult in the modern world and had magic? No? Well that describes the Toth a race to a T. A race known more for its seeking of ever greater knowledge through the study of death and undeath. A nation of creatures that would rather enslave an entire species to avoid having to discover further scientific theories, just so that they may continue to study undeath. A race known to do whatever it takes to succeed and with the means of magic to do so. The Toth are considered one of the most war like races in history that gains them a natural zeal that surpasses the majority of religions, even amongst the most devout followers. Though the Toth do not worship a god but rather the study of magic. And only take orders from one being from the highest to lowest in society, they all answer to the Pope of their people. The Toth nation is also the only nation to be a theocracy, granting them a strange power structure even compared to the Pakob nation. With the goal of almost all Toth being to gain one of the five arc bisop titles and eventually the title of Pope.

City info:

Here we shall list the specific city info if any is listed for the cities history.

Note.

Many of the recorded Toth “Cities and Towns” were not discovered until the age of The Last Flame (2000 - 1800 BS). Thus the majority of the history we have are from rewritten accounts according to the few Centaur scientists that have joined our ranks in the Champions of Pyrus. Ulric “The Mournful” of Clan Mournhell Expert in Toth Culture and Magical Arts, and the first Centaur Champion of Pyrus.

First Age

Cruor castle

Said to have been the only city that the Toth could sustain while within the continent of olympia. The castle was known for its vast vorpal spells along its walls to cut the encroaching vines from both the outside of the mountain and from within. The Toth castle is depicted as magnificant blue marble walls and buildings, with large domes dotted throughout for hatchlings to be trained within. It is said the city is eerily silent except for the sounds of rapid wind blades shooting out to cut down the local plants. The only true sound seems to come from within the mountain where large amounts of death ore are mined by the owned slaves. The city is said to have a tower for each of the Arc Bisops and then a singular and tall tower in the center for the Papul to reign from. Noted for it's large slave population, each with their own individual markings from distant lands, the city sports a large underground river that has been connected through magic to the river passing by the cities western border. It is said this underground area is similar to a massive black market with races of all sorts allowed within under specialized requirements. The underground city is said to allow for the usage of the newest drugs discovered by the toth and the selling of slaves and beasts alike within. Giving the city the nickname "Twin Face" for it's bright and beautiful above ground and it's seedy underground where even the strongest can be kidnapped and sold for a quick coin.

The Last Flame Age onwards

Towns

Frigus
Just half a day's walk north, and considered to be the most secure town in the empire. Known for its over abundance of Halfling slaves and its large glass tubes going all throughout the town with liquid mana running through them at all hours of the day. The town is a marvel of magical research and study. Many battle mages are trained here, both toth and slaves taking part in these trainings. For the city of Frigus sees only merit giving it the most unique view of the toth. Though this is allowed as those of the Battler bloodline rule this town with more power then the two strongholds, or so some believe. Thus many young Cranis looking to prove further worth continue to endure the harsh and slavelike conditions.
Obcasus
The southern city is known for its research into aquatic crafts. Obcasus is known for its large aquarium filled with underwater races and creatures. And like other cities, many research facilities can be found dotting this town. All with screams emanating from within as ungodly experiments are continuously performed upon the enslaved populace. What causes this city to stand out is it's understanding of magic and interactions with the depths of the oceans. It is believed that a Toth Cranis has made the discovery that the continents themselves are actually tarrasques, though few believe this research given it's origin. The Toth Cranis declares that they have managed to reach depths not yet discovered. And that they saw legs, a mouth and other such identifiers for a creature that looked to be a giant tarrasque. Many have yet to prove this to be true however, though noting the city does sport the fifth largest naval stronghold in the world.
Letum
To the southeast, and covered in magical walls. Letum is the city of meat and farm animals. The toth are notably an extremely efficient people. Choosing to hyper focus their towns into specific needs for the empire as they expanded. Thus Letum a city located in the most fertile lands of the continent. They specialize in training ranger slave groups, druid Toth Cranis, and animals. Noting that many scientific expansions have been made to make the farm animals far easier to raise and produce far greater numbers of goods in return. It should be also noted that many of what we at the Champions of Pyrus call “sentient races” are not classified the same way by the Toth. Thus noting that dragons, dyr’co, naauthies, canini, centaur, and many more are also farmed and harvested here. Giving Letum the nickname “The City of Meat Hooks”.
Mors
Southeast of the capital, a city with a strange and neutral situation. Though noted as a town, the walls of Mors are quite large. However, the cities unique situation gives it the ability to avoid all conflicts. Two massive arcane gateways that open when fed lyrium, open to the Abyss and Mors. Allowing for many would be smiths, researchers, and adventurers alike to venture into foreign planes of existence. Though it should be mentioned that to afford to have either gate open requires thousands of pounds of lyrium and gold. But due to the obvious danger of breaking either gate, the foreign powers of the Ogres, Toth and Canini races have all agreed to leave Mors out of their wars.
Obitus
Southwest of Genus Hall, and the largest port town of the Toth lands. All slaves are said to come in and out of this town giving it the nickname of “The Last Stop” and is ran by a halfling in the service of the Asleep bloodlines Master Cranis who supports the modern changes. The Halfling Giles Mynge is the fourteenth of his own family to rule this town all with the same name. It is believed that this is due to the lack of interest from the bloodline to learn new names of slaves. Though this city seems small in comparison to the grand castles and strongholds. It is noted that any and all races from foreign lands are welcome here. Many port nearby and will spend days within the town enjoying the sights and culinary talents. Causing many adventurers to believe this town to be no further evil then any other town. However, one should be warned that if you come up short in Obitus, “The Last Stop” before you become a full slave and vanish never to be seen again. It's a common end for many who venture further within.

Cities

Caedis hold
Just west of the capital, and a city known as “The End”. Not only is this city the most battered by the Dyr’co who on a constant basis, are known to be using large magical barrages from force ballistas against the walls. Thus giving the city the look as if its walls where melting or breaking. Though as each attack comes, the Toth slave production rebuilds stronger and thicker walls and expands its territory further. It should also be noted that Caedis is under constant assault from either the Dyr’co who rule the southern lands or the Naauthies who seem to have been subjugated by the Dyr’co. Giving the difficulty of two very opposite styles of command coming together to cause the Toth no end of annoyances.
Stirpes castle
A commanding fortress in the south, that specializes in the research and development of the canine sentient races. Having specifically created many sub breeds of the canini races, as well as many gnoll races. They say that the castle of Stirpes was given this name when a canini slave mispronounced stripes when looking at the recently sieged walls of the fortress and the long lines of blood coming down. As many of the leaders of the rebellion had their heads removed on the walls before the rebelling army and put on spikes by the Toth leadership at the time. Stirpes is also well known for its massive fighting arenas where they specialize in training barbarians and beasts of war through its uses. However, if not enslaved and given the right, you as an adventurer can make plenty of gold here from betting and fighting. Or so thats what some would be adventurers have stated through the years.
Stirpis hold
A stronghold just northeast of the capital, rebuilt after the many Canini and Ogre attacks. Stirpis is a castle known for its simplicity in its design and its over abundance of military forces. Belonging to one of the few Papul bloodlines to still exist from the Age of Chaos. The Able bloodline has ruled Stirpis since the conquest of the Centaur lands. And have managed to worm their way into the highest ranks of society for the extensive ogre research they have completed. It has been confirmed that at any given hour of the day, over two thousand ogre slaves can be found working in Stirpis. Even more if you follow the sounds of wailing women and children down beneath the stronghold where the labs are said to be hard at work with the full ethicality you could expect from the Toth.
Genus hall
To the far north and one of the last standing cities from the first Toth expansions before the Sable conquest. A city known mostly for its musical talents and massive churches designed to amplify the singing within. Slaves with great talents for singing and the arts are brought here from far and wide to be trained. It is believed that Genus Hall is the second greatest bard college in the world. Though noting that all “graduates” bear the music note brand underneath their left eye. Forever marking them as having served the confines of Genus Hall.
Cruor castle
North of the capital and previously the original center of the nation. During the time of the Arc bisop, this castle Cruor represented all that was their power. Halls of rare metals, stone work from all across the empire, and statues of every Papul to have gained the title. Now a city of desolation, and slave processing facilities. Cruor has become a disturbing and outright spoiled land. The city itself houses the last of the Arc bisop bloodlines, and thus is where many of the captured enemies of the toth are first sent. Here they undergo full training and brainwashing as they are “processed” for the empire's uses. It is also here that all newly captured are evaluated for their skills and given a title and job to imprint into their beings.
Sanguis Hold
The capital and central point of the main Toth lands. A city known for its wealth and outrageously gaudy architecture style. Gold gleams in the roads, silver lines the streets, and it is said that every precious jewel gained is manufactured and turned into simple light fixtures or furniture. While one could easily be deceived by its grandness, the city of Sanguis Hold, no pun intended, holds a dark underbelly unlike any the world has seen. For while the Toth may rule the lands and control the upper one percent of the population. The rest of the city is practically ran and controlled by the different slave groups that serve the twelve Cranis. Like the Toth, many of the enslaved races look to their new lives for opportunity to grow in power and control over the lands. It is not uncommon for slaves to the highest ranking toth to fully control and have lands of their own given to help continue the operations of their masters. Thus many factions in both the city itself and its outer lands have factionised to a point of major infighting and in some cases civil war. It is not uncommon to see this grand city swamped in rivers of blood from all races. For the toth overlordship does not bother with the lesser creatures regardless of the dangers this sort of politicking causes.
Nox hall
The north west city, and the main invasion point for the conquest of the halfling lands that once existed, Automancily. The city itself is well known for having large schools and laboratories scattered throughout. Thus making it extremely common to see newly developed equipment being tested in the streets with the large garrison of toth and slave soldiers to witness. A city fully built around the concept of a military science state. The stronghold of Nox Hall has slowly been expanding and growing at an unexpected speed. The current concern is that the master toth who control the area have come together to form their own anti theocracy of sorts. However, due to the amount of loyal Toth and Master Toth in the area, no rebellions have managed to gain a foothold. With the halfling race known as the Pati causing this chance to lower further as a non violent species.

Technology periods

Here we shall discuss the main technological discoveries by this race.

Leaders of Industry

It should be known that the Toth people are single handedly responsible for over eighty six percent of the slave trade globally. They lead the world in both slave output but as well as their enslavement programs. From studies of biology on both living and dead slaves, they also lead the world in necromancy. Thus the entirety of the nation runs on undead servants and slaves from around the nation. It is believed that the Toth people have the most advanced enslavement process in the world which allows them to use all other races for permanent servitude. Quite interestingly they also do not allow the technology and magics they specialize in leave the nation. It is confirmed in fact that to even purchase a Toth made slave collar with the magical enchants at the lowest form. Requires an outsider to gain permission from the Papul and twelve Cranis. Thus instead, when purchasing from anywhere in the nation, the Toth use their vast teleportation network for shipping their goods. Thus the nation has become the leading food and slave manufacturer in the world. Combining this with the specialization of their slave network with the Centaur race using their science and the hardiness of the halflings. They also use the majority of their non servant slaves for their war machine, which includes whole units of different races all specialized and individually put together to create the most optimal warrior brigades. To say that the Toth have mastered industry and are building their own utopia is an understatement. The Toths ability to analyze and evaluate the value of any individual has also played into the strength of the Toth kingdom.

Hierarchy

Here we shall discuss how the overall ladder of power is designed in this races territories.

Papul

The Papul has no political power and is just a figurehead. He lives a good life in the temple of Narro but is never allowed to leave. The papul is elected by the 12 Cranis from any master Toth in the nation. The Papul is a symbol to show the other races that they have a leader. As for the naming convention, Papul’s take the moniker of whatever nickname has been provided for that age. So if for example during the Age of Tears the first papul becomes known as The Damned, all papuls after until the age is over take this name. This is to avoid it ever seeming like the Papul has died.

Arc Bisop

A title that was once granted to the strongest Toth in the land. However, after many years and changes to the government by the Cranis, a new title would be created after the Toth known formerly as Master Cranis was made a Papul. The first and last of the Papul to wretch power from the rest of the nation to fully control it. Thus upon his passing and in celebration of his success in many of the enslavement wars. The title would change from a group of five Arc Bisop to the twelve Cranis.

Cranis

The Cranis are the strongest of the master Toth. They are elected by the Cranis each time one of their members die, technically any master Toth can become a Cranis if voted in. The only specification to being one is you have to be a master Toth, this has lead to some dark civil wars in the country and this system is often abused by the current Cranis. The Cranis wear red metal rings around their heads with the center piece a small red stone that contains their blood in it. They also wear massive robes like the Papul but theirs are a bit less flashy and more practical.

Master Toth

Black creature with a white faceless head. Master Toth are born holding a mask which is their actual face. They speak from their masks. Human shaped bodies with several tentacle like arms. Some suggest they are related to the ganth in some way. They are the strongest with magic in the nation and are elevated depending on their skill level with the different magics. They are natural tacticians and typically lead the armies of the Toth people. Master Toth are not allowed to leave the country except in times of war.

Toth

Toth are typically just commoners that were born without massive amounts of magical ability. The normal Toth are used as fillers in the society to complete jobs that are deemed too menial for the masters.

Slave soldiers

Slave soldiers are almost mindless, making them very obedient to the Toth. These soldiers are treated like dirt and are sent into battle without even a thought of losing them. The Toth really don't have an army of their own people since they're too frail to fight against many of the more brutish civilizations. This is why the Toth have created these armies of slaves to fight for them.

Slaves

The Toth have more slaves in their country than they do their own people. This country has been built by slaves with their blood, sweat and tears. The slaves however are treated as dirt and are sometimes killed for no other reason than for what they are. Slaves are also forced to wear strange collars in the Toth lands, their large thick metal rings with a sort of blood necklace going around it. They say if the slave tries to escape the blood vials in the collar explode and kill the slave. From what the Toth say its the blood of the individual slave in those collars that kills them, the vials are treated with different chemicals that set off if the slave wanders to far from a set machine.

Other races

Every other race is considered to be an enemy that must be destroyed in time. The Toth are the only race that has no allies and are continually plotting war against the other nations. But the other races fear them so much that they try to avoid confrontation.

Nobility

Here we shall discuss notable noble houses through the time periods.

Note

No Papul has a specific name, just The Papul therefore their names are not recorded. They all dress in magnificent robes that cover their heads. These robes are infused with ancient magics along with many beautiful gems and rocks. The Papul wear a crown a lot like the slave collars except it's a crown. It's made of a fine blue metal with 12 spikes on it that eventually combine into one massive spike at the top of which is a vial of the Papuls blood.

The First Papul

While this title doesn't quite fit the truth at the time, the Toth are a folk that are the least documented historically due to their unwillingness to allow even powerful casters within there ranks. Thus this term was given as the only other translation found from the time is "He who reigned through blade and blood". Supposedly named Andhra "The Hungry Blade". It is rumored that he was the first true king of the toth in a time before religion became the driving power behind the nation. It is also believed that he was the reason for the toth to seek a gods protection after his death. As once he fell his heirs could not live up to his great power. A toth who had managed to steal the ability of the ancient primitive elves, he was noted as the only toth ever to manage this. While many others would attempt, none seemed to be able to master blood magic to the same level as Andhra "The Hungry Blade". Rumored to have been far stronger through continous enhancement of his body with magic, Andhra would go on historically to massacre the ruling Arc Bisop's at the time who refused to elect a new king after the previous bloodline had ended. Another dagger that was said to have been held by Andhra, as the previous royal line had over two hundred and thirty members amongst them. With all of them suddenly over a single month dying in strange or unexpected attacks. It is believed that Andhra was a mix between caster and warrior that blended well enough to stand on par with the titans who would attack Cruor Castle.

Military

Here we will discuss any specific military information

The First Papul

Noted for having an army of Five Archimagi, 500 Cranis, 10,000 Master toth, and around 20,000 slave solders that can be mobilized.

Note

The Toth people also specialize in scythe-like weapons and with their long robes they are sometimes mistaken as living Reapers. The Toth however rarely fight themselves. Thus the most common of the races they use are shown below and how they came to use.

Voli

During the war in Abaddon the Toth found out that by bonding an Voli to a nexus demon they would turn into creatures that could go completely invisible. They had immense strength as well as grow 10 feet tall and grow massive arms. They can then cause random explosions with their hands by shooting arrows straight out of their palms.

Gnolls

They’re turned into large three headed beast, one that's human, one that's gnoll like, and one that’s a treecat head. Each head has a different ability. This was said to be done by sewing on the three heads and filling the gnoll body, alive or dead, a strange fluid that would grant them the ability to operate all three heads.

Dwarves

They are turned into a firey skeleton with lava stone armor and an obsidian great sword. As if forged into strange golems. The Toth discovered that after stealing an ancient anvil in one of their temples, they could beat certain slaves on it with a hammer and forge them into creatures of immediate servitude such as skeletons, zombies, and golems.

Other Races

Orcs, Nords, Heli, Tigraxes, Elf, Centaurs, Ogres, Halflings, Canini, Scrofe, Tuortas, Testudala, rumors have been heard that these other races have also been experimented on however no one has reported any monsters to the likeness of the species.

Wars

Here we shall discuss the notable wars for each period and who they were against.

War of the Giants (First Age)

The first recorded war in the Toth history, a war fought between the valiant Toth and the sky ogres as they were called. Though many records indicate based on the transcriptions that the ogres were more likely cloud giants. The war itself was declared as it was confirmed that the Arc Bisop at the time had kidnapped a cloud giant and began experimenting on it with blood magic. Thus the full invasion from multiple cloud giant kingdoms that would end with the Toth victory and the enslavement of hundreds of cloud giants. Though due to experiments used on these new found magical batteries, those slaves and the subraces the Toth would create, are no longer in existence today. No further information on how the Toth managed to defeat a society far beyond them in technology and magic. But some believe it was through the use of blood magic and creation of cloud giant puppets that would infiltrate and kill select figures.

War of the Dead from 7000-6900BS

During the War of the Dead against the ancient Dyr’co race. It is said that the Toth were for once in the histories humbled. Though it was never confirmed if they lost or what actually happened beyond the two nations declaration. However what is known is that soon after the discovery and worship of Narro would become the main focus of the entirety of the nation. As while the faith had not yet taken hold, and at this time it is stated that the Toth actually had a female inherited kingship system in place. But that soon after or at the end of this war, it is stated the church would rise to take complete control of the nation.

The Blood wars from 6500-6000 BS

The first war fought against the two kingdoms the Toth and the Heli. This war was fought over who would lead the Origin’s Council of Nations both the Toth and Heli were advanced enough and both were strong enough but only one could rule. According to the Toth the Heli lead a secret army into the Toth’s capital and set fire to it. They are also said to have destroyed half of the temples to Narro in the country.

Nexus War from 5999-5998

Well they say this was the war against Narro but if you look at the facts that would be wrong. The Papul and Cranis had decided to try and lead an army into Abaddon but found overwhelming forces waiting for them on the other side. What they thought was Narro was an extremely large and strong Wolf of the Rot leading a pack of over 100. The small Toth army of only 700 was destroyed within hours, the Papul claimed that Narro must have taken form as the leader of the pack and judged them not worthy to enter yet. This war would originally be the first Abadon war but later renamed to the Nexus war by scholars as the madness of the situation came to light.

War of the Hounds from 1954-1902

This war was fought in no mans land and was where the first sightings of the Toths demon army was reported. During this war all sides including the Tigraxes, Canini, and Dyr'co all said that the Toth’s army was not of this earth. They also reported the Toth were taking the bodies of the fallen soldiers of all sides and reanimating them with their blood magic. This is one of the few wars where the other nations were scared straight and refused to fight the Toth.

Abaddon wars from 1854-1800BS

Against the Voli the Toth flourished, this war was just utter destruction. The one thing most people don't know is that in abaddon blood magic is much stronger due to the corruption in the crystals that create the magic. During this war the Toth had entered Abaddon prepared to claim it for themselves and in Narros name. They were actually wanting to collect the crystals and bring them back to Incremia however they soon realized that even if one can harvest the crystal it disintegrates immediately once it enters into Incremia. So instead the Toth started harvesting Voli for their armies and to experiment on. The Cranis believed that the key to getting the crystals into Incremia might lie in the Voli peoples blood.

Papuls war from 2400-2001

This war was fought against the halflings and sable. During this war the Toth had started experimenting on the sable and halfling people turning them into monsterous beings. This caused a huge uproar in the southern council to which the sable for the first time in history declared war. However none of the other races would back them during this war without proof. Well this is now why the sable country is under the Toths complete control. The Toth now have enslaved the sable and halflings to serve as their scientists to explore further into the nexus and how to merge their god Narro with a living being. They called it Papuls war because for the first time in the Toth history someone killed a Papul, but no one known who killed him.

The War of Cranis from 1901-1892BS

This war was fought against the Heli and almost caused the Heli to fall for the second time in history. The Toth had enough and along with the ginger lion’s company the war of Cranis begun. The Toth had brought over 10,000 soldiers and had started to tear apart anyone in their way. This war was just a blood bath on both sides with whole cities being completely destroyed and nobles dying left and right. This war however was covered up for the most part by the Heli king who had ordered that anyone coming and going in the country would be immediately executed which eventually led to his death.

Zealots War from 0-37AS

As of current the Zealots war is going on between the Toth and Dyr'co. However this war is more of a standoff since no major battles have actually taken place. This war was started by the Toth who claimed the Dyr'co gods are impure and weak.

Events/Holidays

We shall begin to discuss notable holidays and events in this culture. Explaining further on where they come from and what goes on during them.

Marriage

No one knows how the Toth mate or if they do at all, some say they may just create more Toth with the blood of slaves.

Hatchlings

Unlike most races, the Toth share something similar to the Aarcokra in that they both lay eggs that must incubate and then hatch. However, unlike the other egg laying races, the toth do not wait for their eggs to hatch. Instead sending them to great dome like buildings called "Mage Rooms" that allows the hatchlings to study magic while within the egg and even once they come out. Not being allowed to leave for the first few years of their lives, each hatchling is said to be required to master a first level spell of their own before they can leave.

Religious beliefs

Here we shall discuss the different religious beliefs in this races history throughout the periods.

Narro

Their one and only god. Narro has many different spellings of his name in the Toth country such as: Narro, Nero, Nerro, Neromes, Naro. He is the almighty god and is chaos in life. The Toth pray to him to bring about the destruction of the rest of the world's civilizations and to put them on top.

Known diseases

Here we shall discuss known diseases to be active and/or discovered or cured during the different time periods of these races

Notsa (Not-Sa):

Known in common as defeathering, the disease is only known to affect the Toth, Seepo and the Va’Tri. It is said to cause the infected host to suddenly begin molting at such a high rate that new feathers do not grow. Once the feathers have all molted, strange purple boils will appear all over the body and eventually cause the host to seep out the purple liquid which causes the host to die from dehydration or they begin to burst and the infected begins to bleed profusely from the bursting boils.

Founding

Here we shall explain when the race came to be, how it came to be, and whom it is credited to and where.   The Toth are a nation that is fully founded in mystery. Being one of the oldest races in known history, having been first noted in The Beginning of Corruption Age. Unlike the other races though, they have no known origin to this date. Some scholars believe that the Toth originated as one of two races the Avyon or the Seepo, as both share the origin of higher magical capabilities and having been located on the main continent for a while. It is believed that the Toth in their original form were originally like many other races of Incremia, slaves to the Dragons. However, this has also been debunked as the chronicles confirm and have relics from the era of the Toth willingly fighting Cloud Giants that had managed to stay with Incremia during the world split. Thus to this day the origin of the Toth is fully unknown. Once the Dragons had been dethroned and the Heli began to take over. It is believed that a small amount of slaves managed to flee to the other islands and start up societies of their own. Thus the Toth who would originally start their new governance as a kingdom ruled by the women who were noted at the time to be twice the size of the males. As time would go on and many female kings later, the Toth would first note the new food source called the Abaddon Fruit or the Plaguekeepers Apple. This fruit while having extremely ill effects on most races. Seemed to transform the Toth into an almost immortal walking corpse like state with the intelligence of a demi god. It is believed that these fruit are the source of the Toth power and later the source of their connection to Abaddon and Narro. However, upon the findings of this fruit would be the same time as the changing of government from a female kingship to a theocracy of magic. Though no notes to this day on why or how this happened or what happened to the last king have ever been found.
