The Pseudotroll (The Seji Troll)

General Info

Known for their vast strength and extreme wisdom, these trolls find themselves as the leaders of great hordes whenever they would be born in the first age. Though one would rise higher then any other, thus giving the race it's name and reputation for divine wars. Known to be born once in a hundred trolls, a pseudotroll or seji troll are horrific creatures with the wisdom to match an illithid's intelligence. These creatures are known to be the grandest champions of their gods, and many believe the gods themselves would fight over the right to make one their chosen avatar in the world. Though disturbing in apperance with massive tentacles, gnashing teeth, mouths and eyes across their body, the creatures are actually well known for their charismatic demeanor when dealing with other nations. Though this does apply only to those races not from the continent, as ThriKreen, Toth, and Titans are all looked at as food and slaves. The Seji trolls last and most notable feature is the nomadic lifestyle, preferring to settle where large forests and rivers with plentiful fish can be found.

City info

Here we shall list the specific city info if any is listed for the cities history.

Seji's Retreat

A city known for it's vast marble streets that are dotted with vast amounts of colorium, giving the city the nickname "Streets of a Thousand Views" as the artists of history would call it. The city is noted for not having a single wall, and instead expanding naturally around the mountain in the northern lands. Slowly growing as more trolls come to settle the lands, the city is noted for having brought in hundreds of thousands of trolls to a central point. As the city continues to expand more difficulties are found, however great roads have begun construction from the many small port clans that have set up around the territories of the north. Allowing for a few merchants who have managed to understand the troll language to trade, though most notebly the city has a ban on Ork, Orc, and Ogre slave traders within the lands. The rest of the city is quite normal with it's primitive design of stone slabs and rocks that are roughly shaped to be slapped together using hot colorium to hold them in place. When the metal cools, it is said to keep the house always the needed temperature as the colors show exactly what temperature the houses need to be. Or so was the logic of the trolls of the first age.

Technology periods

Here we shall discuss the main technological discoveries by this race.

Colorium Brick Making

A technology that was never useful historically, but it had a major impact on the artistic culture of many lands. Surprising most historians, colorium is said to have been discovered by the trolls of the first age who would use the material in sculptures. Many of the sculptures being strangely cave shaped and uniquely painted by the inhabitants. However, each "Color Cave" as the artistic community would refer to them as, had a strangely powerful magic within. Allowing each to change its temperature at will, those who inhabited the house would simply paint over the metal to change the entire color of the house and the temperature within. Many believe this is where the original understanding of orks and colorium would come from as their ancient ancestors would, in many cases, continuously experiment with it. Even dunking their heads in it when born in some rare cases, believing it to give them different powers depending on the color.

Hierarchy

Here we shall discuss how the overall ladder of power is designed in this races territories.

Seji

A title given to the ruler of all trolls, some believe it means "One who cannot be Stopped", to infer the great conquest one would have to do to earn this title. Few have ever gained the title, and even fewer had done it in a time when the trolls were at their most powerful. Though historically losing their great power in some strange incident that was lost to the histories of the first age. Seji was believed to be a term given to those who had all troll leaders recognize them as their leader, granting them far greater mutations on their bodies to lead to even further benefits. The term would be granted once one had over a hundred karak under your service, and only then could you contest the title. Believed to grant the one given the name the powers of all who had previously been called it, all pseudotrolls would give up theie given names at birth for their title to show their power. As they rose up, they would see their names change, however, Seji was the title that, once gained, marked the troll as Seji throughout their history. Until they passed, no other could claim the title, but like all others, if the one who claimed this title were to bow their head, they would be killed on the spot as is custom. For only Seji is one who does not bow, one who can summon all trolls to battle, one who sees the truth of the future.

Karak

Also noted as "Great One" this would become the title of all who descended from a Seji. Believing that those born of the Seji were granted with greater divine power than any other, as if demi gods to a minor god. Those of the Karak would go on to gather many other trolls easily, allowing for greater power to be achieved making even more trolls believe in the title. Thus the Karak find themselves most commonly as an elite pseudotroll group who all bear some of the more unique features of their Seji ancestors. However, what makes each Karak stick out is the bright white brand that seems to streak across their entire body as if they had been slapped with a brush slathered in white paint. These markings are said to grant the Karak the minor psionic abilities of their Seji ancestor, also allowing for a natural distinction of the Karak from any other member of troll society.

Oath Takers

The elite amongst the god servants, the trolls who have taken oaths to their Karak, Seji, or sometimes even to their clans name, are considered the elite of warriors. Granted the strength of their word, an oath taker was a troll who could show the value of his words through power. Allowing all others to easily recognize their worth, naturally many oath takers would brand themselves with markings to represent their oath. Historians believe this was to avoid forgetting their oaths, but others believe it was a way to intimidate lesser trolls. Each Oath Taker was known to carry their personal weapon, a shield and no armor, with many leaving their hair in unique designs to allow themselves to stick out even further. Many would even brand themselves with marks of those they had taken oaths to, in some cases of vengeance or conquest it was not uncommon to find entire families marked out on the oath takers body to represent those they had sworn to. To this day, the Oath Taker is said to originate fully within the lands of the trolls.

God Servants

Those who have taken up the clerical class and thus joined the cloth. Trolls were not a religious people naturally, however once a troll was noted for dedicating itself to a goal it stuck with it until death or achievement. Making them a natural race for many lesser gods to be attracted to for potential clerics, oath takers and holy orders. Surprisingly this led to the trolls having the largest amount of churches randomly popping up throughout the lands with extremely skilled craftsman and tradesman who had learned from servants of other races now settled in the lands. Many have noted the god servants to be extremely dedicated to their gods, in some cases spending weeks to months without sustanence to prove their loyalty, nearly starving in the process. Those amongst the trolls granted the title of god servant are noted to be on the level with many of the toth Arc Bisop when it came to divine magic.

Tothborne

A term for those amongst the trolls who had been born near the toth lands historically. Many have noted those blessed by the toth or rather who had escaped from the toth to have been capable of far more intellectually. However, the cost seems to be the sanity and willingness for life. Thus many have noted that other then Seji of the First Age, many of the Tothborne were driven to extreme and often violent deaths at the hands of their enemies. As if driven to destroy or be destroyed, the creatures rarely had the ability to master their minds by their mid years. Thus Tothborne became a group of berserkers who would be chained up as they continued to grow larger, and only released upon the battlefield when absolutely needed. Though it should be noted, that while they lose their capability to master there minds, the creatures are still capable. They feel a need to seek out endless battle and destruction, and are willing to do whatever is needed to achieve this, allowing many to be chained willingly in exchange for continous destruction. Thus many Tothborne can be found chained to churches near the thrikreen border in order to fend off the invasive insectoids.

Elemental Trolls

Though considered to be trolls of rarity, one in a thousand is said to be born with the mastery over the elements. Marked by their natural ability to change their limbs to that element, the creatures seem to be almost natural sorcerors with whatever element they are born to. However, like tothborne, with this greater power comes an unstable subspecies who's known for it's violent outbursts and natural hatred of sunlight. Unlike other trolls, it is believed that Elemental Trolls cannot exist above ground as natural sunlight on the material plane weakens their bodies to a tenth of their power. Though this does not stop a few that chose to serve, rare is it to find an elemental troll above ground.

Natural Trolls

Known also as common trolls, these are your troll species that mark Ork, Orc and Ogre as subspecies beneath them historically. Having been believed to be the origin species of the modern versions of Orks, Orcs, and Ogres, the natural troll was known for it's ability to naturally regenerate. They would vary in size and shape based on the area they called home, but most often they all shared a natural greenish tinted skin, and yellow eyes. Easily marked for their large teeth and hunger for flesh of any creatures but their own. The Natural Trolls made up the bulk of troll society, having been the most commonly born and with the least amount of power. Each natural troll would be capable of gaining a resistance to the element it's born into or near, if it's cold outside the troll will resemble other snow trolls, if it's dark other cave trolls and so on.

Lesser Trolls

Known to lack intelligence to such a degree that the lesser trolls are considered to be more pets than brethren. The lesser trolls involve trolls with necrotic magic capabilities, those born to or dealt enough damage by the fey to become fey trolls, and finally the weakest of the lost the Rags. Each of these trolls are noted for having only a four to six in intelligence at their highest, and while a rare few are welcomed into society, the majority find themselves enslaved amongst the rest of the ThriKreen to serve within the mines or cutting down forests. Thus, few of the lessers have ever managed to gain power throughout history, serving as the backbone of industry with little to complain about due to lack of understanding.

Nobility

Here we shall discuss notable noble houses through the time periods.

Royals throughout history

Here we shall mention royals that have a historical value of sorts.

Seji "The Bigg Brain" Of Toth

Known to have been the last to escape the toth lands when his clan was captured, Seji would find himself named Bigg for his ungodly sized arms and his strange love for disguising himself as a strong titan. Seji would be noted for his natural form that seemed almost a chaotic gathering of flesh that moved and fidgeted with unnatural movements constantly. It is believed that Seji's brain however was the size of an elder brain, and capable of disguising itself and using powerful illusion magic. This has led many historians to believe that the Toth had captured a weakened elder brain and put it into a Pseudotroll that had been already gifted with intelligence beyond it's means. Thus creating what we now know as Seji "The Bigg Brain" Of Toth, a pseudotroll that at will can morph and harden its body. Seji is known for his high cunning but lack of personal battle experience, with many noting that Yuve would usually lead the vast hordes into battle while Seji watched from a vantage point guiding his vast hordes to easy victories. Though one would be caught dead to believe that Seji was not capable in battle, more to the contrary in fact. Seji was noted as one of the highest ranked Oath Takers to The Great Sky Leaker, capable of summon storms with his axe and throwing divine bolts of light at his enemies. However, while Seji had this great power, historically he was seen to rarely use it, even less once Seji had returned with Yuve from the Plane of Elements.

Noteable Nobility

Here we shall discuss the current ages nobles and royals

Huld "The Lass" of Toth

Known to be a troll of larger features, Huld is said to be the size of a small house. With arms capable of lifting hundred year old trees out of the ground in a single pull, many adventurers have been led to their deaths when mispeaking to Huld's gender. To the point that Huld, out of an extreme hatred for the misjudgement, had a wanted poster put out with her gender listed as her name. Enjoying in the fact that many now strong and handsome potential partners would arrive calling her lass as she wanted. Though many have tried to slay her, a few young dragons, an illithid who had gone rogue, as well as a Jotun who Huld would take to marriage through proof of strength. Huld is noted for her hatred of Seji and his power over the other trolls, though satiated with her current family life, it is believed that as Huld was expected to become the next Seji. However, when she had begun to unify the rest of the lands, it was noted that upon hearing she would lose her nickname, she refused to conquer any further. Deciding to instead return to her home in the southern lands where she was last seen beginning to fortify a small town. Though still unmarked on the worlds maps throughout the beginning of the first age, who will know what time will show.

Yuve "The Eternal Flame" of Flame

An elemental troll who has grown to the size of an elder elemental and with the power of nearly a monolith fire elemental, many have noted that Yuve is the only elemental troll to be able to walk amongst the sunlight. Believed to be a staunch ally of Seji's, it is said that Yuve gained his nickname and blessing from the Plane of Elements. It is said it was here that Seji would take the young elemental troll in exchange for his clans alliance with Seji and servitude. As the two would enter, months would go by until they returned with Seji being twice the size he had been and Yuve had been granted the title of "The Eternal Flame" now with strange markings all across his body. Many believe that Yuve would become the servant to the primordial goddess through his travels, or an even more powerful elemental that had not yet awoken to the material plane. What is known, is that Yuve leads the second largest coalition of trolls within the lands, having unified the entirety of the underdarks population of elemental trolls underneath his throne. Though still serving Seji religiously, Yuve is also known for hunting illithid within the underdark to keep their population down and away from the trolls.

Trelbrek "The Lesser Oath" of Oath Taken

The first lesser troll to become an oath taker and to rise to the rank of Grand Master of the Oath Taken clan. Trelbrek is known for his short stature, hunched back, and greenish red skin with a long nose noted throughout the history books as red and intimidating. Trelbrek was believed to be constantly filled with rage as he would find himself on the road every other month. As Trelbrek had sworn an oath to the previous Seji to rid the world of both Toth and ThriKreen, and that he would not stop battling until he had, that was two hundred years ago. Now a grizzled, angry and quite ugly looking troll, Trelbreks long white beard is noted for buzzling through the constant windstorms of the southern portion of the continent. As Trelbrek and his clan find themselves fighting on both sides constantly moving to one battle after the next. Trelbrek is noted for having slain thousands of ThriKreen and over twenty toth of master rank or higher. He is noted for his hatred for the current Seji but also his lack of willpower to stop him as he fulfills his own oath.

Noteable Royal Family

Notable Noble houses

Of Toth
The clan noted to have been closest to the toth lands at the beginning of the first age. Though the majority escaped and those that had not were mercifully killed by those that had. Those still standing today that descend from that ancient tribe still suffer the worst of the mutations and horrid looking marks. Almost all marked as Karaks, they are considered to be the most powerful in strength and size, however they usually find themselves easily overcome with rage and wild ideas. This has led to the tribes splitting to the four winds, each settling in different sections of the lands and founding smaller families. Often unable to stand each other for long, those of toth are noted to have similar features to the toth people, with many blessed by magic beyond their understanding. And with wild avion like mutations, in some rare cases even granting the troll the rare blessing of flight that the toth seek to such extremes in the first age that many even noted themselves drinking dragon blood to achieve such feats.
Of Flame
Known as those who serve under The Eternal Flame, the clan who rules the underdark and patrols it with their oath takers and god servants. Even further bolstering their numbers when finding a rare or unique elemental to bring within the clan. Though few are ever traded, many are tamed to serve the clan and if grown big enough will be gifted to the Seji in exchange for greater honors to their clan leader or themselves. The of Flame are all powerful elemental trolls who have been weeded out through continous battle in the underdark, noted for spending most of their times hunting Thrikreen and Illithid, the of flame clan has grown to be able to recognize even the smallest of parasites within other trolls.
Of Oath Taken
An oath taker and god servant clan that serves to represent all who have sworn to a god. Any who have chosen to join the holy ranks are allowed to serve or take the name Of Oath Taken, but only around twelve are capable enough to claim the title of master within the ranks. And even fewer to take the title of Grand Master, or "He who calls upon all who are holy" as it translates in common. Those who serve this clan have a dedication to the Grand Master and Masters first and then their gods, however, this is rarely used amongst the clan unless in times of war. A clan known for it's constant warring with the thrikreen and toth to the point that many have grown immune to magic and minor psionic abilities. The current clan is noted as serving The Great Sky Leaker, however this was a recent change from the last Grand Master who served Mov'Asi.

Military

Here we will discuss any specific military information

Seji "The Bigg Brain" Of Toth

Noted for having a military of 200 Karak, 5,000 oath takers, 10,000 god servants, 5,000 Tothborne, 50,000 Elemental trolls, 100,000 natural trolls, 250,000 lesser trolls to be mobilized.

Wars

Here we shall discuss the notable wars for each period and who they were against.

Events/Holidays

We shall begin to discuss notable holidays and events in this culture. Explaining further on where they come from and what goes on during them.

ThriKreen Blessings

Known historically amongst the many troll tribes to be a blessing, it is believed that since many troll clans would hibernate during the harsh winters to avoid starvation, when the spring would begin and nothing had been hunted or gathered, the trolls would awaken to the ThriKreen attacking their lands and giving the trolls a free meal to avoid madness. Many trolls have been noted throughout the first age to specifically hunt certain kinds of ThriKreen, some historians believe this was due to the hope of gaining the insectoids abilities. The ThriKreen Blessing would also turn into a feast amongst the northern trolls who rarely had to deal with the raids and would instead use it to mark the beginning of the growing season.

Religious beliefs

Here we shall discuss the different religious beliefs in this races history throughout the periods.

Great Sky Leaker

A god said to have once been a song dragon who was sick with a great disease. From this great disease many of the Pseudotrolls believe they were born. Now believed to be amongst the Pseudotrolls serving as a guide for their abilities. Each Pseudotroll is noted for having a strange mutated wooden statue of Great Sky Leaker represented as a mutated looking song dragon with troll like features. It should be noted that these strange mutations do seem to be poisonous to consume, thus leaving most pseudotrolls with an almost natural repellent to the thrikreen.

Known diseases

Here we shall discuss known diseases to be active and/or discovered or cured during the different time periods of these races

Big Brain Boom

Though the name sounds simple and primitive, it turns out that this was a rare problem that only applied to trolls either with psionic abilities or Seji Trolls. Called Big Brain Boom for it's noting of the head swelling up due to the brain taking in too much psionic power over time without using the abilities. This would eventually lead to the head exploding in the early days of the race. Though with the species becoming organized under a single leader, it is believed that Seji, with the gift from the gods was able to cure this disease, thus increasing the population of psionic users amongst the trolls.

Biters

Called Biters for the implication that certain watery areas in the territory controlled by the seji trolls had strange parasites that would get into the body and begin to eat it's way out. These creatures, nearly invisible without magical true sight, will gain entry through the body either while the troll swims or drinks, and then while within the stomach will begin to multiply as it drinks away the stomach acid of the creature. These creatures would then eventually burrow or eat their way out of the host and explode out biting at anything that came within reach. These creatures, if not treated, can spread and kill multiple hosts over a lifetime.

The Hunger

Known as The Hunger for it's strange effect on the troll species, it is believed that this can only be contracted when eating troll meat. From what few historical records still exist, when a troll would eat another troll, this would cause something similar to a zombie bite, making the consumer begin to crave more. As the creature would be driven to madness, never to fill their unending hunger, they would begin to eat other trolls and anything else that would get in their way. Creating a madness like disease, that led to many of the troll clans falling and being exterminated by the other races.

Economy

Here we shall discuss the unique economics of different nations as needed.   Surprising no one, the Seji Trolls are well known for having established large trade routes across the continent in order to spread the word of their gods. Though it should be noted that the creatures also relied on raiding, and attacking the ThriKreen for resources to support the majority of their economy. The Pseudotrolls valued colorful items, food from foreign lands, and slaves, especially valuing the toth and illithid slaves that were rare and far between.

Coins

Here we shall find how the coins look, what materials they are made of, and what the value of the coins are on the overall market.
Green Coins
Known for being the best, these coins are made from colorium and imprinted with the troll gods upon them. These are considered equal to a platinum piece.
Yellow Coins
Known as the wealthiest coin, these are equivalent to gold coins in the modern era, and can be found in large stacks or treasure sacks that the Trolls carry around. Each one can be found with the individual smiths face stamped onto it that made the coin.
Blue Coins
Known as the lucky coins and equal to a silver piece. Another coin that is rarely found, as many trolls prefer to melt it down into a fine paint and use it to make their gear luckier.
Red Coins
Considered to be equal to copper pieces, most trolls will not trade red coins and instead use it to melt down and put it into the gear that they make. Giving many of their items speed enhancements.

Trade Goods

Here you shall find the trade goods this race has on offer in the nations they inhabit.
Mentium
A metal that is said to cause increases in psionic abilities, it is noted as having a bright purple like color and when mixed with either tungsten or tin makes armor that boosts psionics and wisdom. It can also be used for creating intelligent items or being used to make weapons that cause psychic damage.
Magic Items
Surprising many, the troll species is one of the finest smithing races in history, not for their overly complicated designs, or their craftsmanship only capable to be replicated by masters. But rather due to the inherit magical properties that all items are given when crafted by a Seji Troll.

Other Characters of note

Here we shall discuss other characters of note directly influence this race.

Anatomy

Here we shall both provide a design as well as an explanation of the anatomy of the race in question.     (image of race)

Ability score increase

With a +2 to Wisdom and Constitution, the troll race was well known for it's incredible regenerative abilities and strength.

Age

Trolls are one of the few races that are technically immortal, with the fact that so long as a troll can keep it's body healthy. It will continue to regenerate even from the worst of damage, however with great regeneration comes a ravenous hunger that is required to be satiated for the regeneration to work. Otherwise the body is noted to fall apart as the old wounds reopen. When it come's to Troll children, typically Trolls consider you a child until you are well past your first one hundred years.
Trolls have around four to five children in a litter with usually only two surviving to full adulthood. This does vary between troll subspecies, however the most accepted count is anywhere between two to fifteen depending on the troll. Trolls also do not typically form strong family bonds, rather focusing on a group or clan that will raise the children.

Phenotypes

Trolls are one of the few races that come in any chromatic color due to their affinity to colorium, many trolls are dunked in vats of the hot metal at birth to give them tougher skin and to change the color of the child to represent their namesake.

Height and Weight

Appearing between 8ft to 12ft tall, these 500 to 700lbs creatures are noted as a danger. For the troll is one of the few creatures noted to be able to change and morph it's body at will. Though most are to unintelligent, pseudotrolls are well known for their ability to change and manipulate their body to different shapes at will. Allowing for grander muscle to be put behind hits, or to toughen portions of skin with the movement of purposeful scar tissue creation on the body to the spot.

Alignment

Trolls are known to never follow a neutral belief, always being on one side or the other as they are considered to dense as creatures to understand the idea of neutrality. Though it should be noted that when a troll dedicates itself to something, it's word is it's bond, they are noted to continue chasing the goal without regard for time or health in some cases. Abandoning all to achieve what they want most.

Speed

The average troll has a 50ft movement speed, while pseudotrolls are noted as having 60ft

Founding

Here we shall explain when the race came to be, how it came to be, and whom it is credited to and where.   The troll is said to be a species that originates from an experient gone wrong by the illithid or beholders of the world. Though none have ever claimed involvement, the creatures seem to have been created with a goal in mind. As each troll can both be independantly a danger, but also gather in large herds led by stronger members of their kind. Those leaders growing far more powerful the more underlings they gain, with strange mutations randomly showing up the larger their herd gets. Those who gain oath takers and clerics are noted for having gained even grander mutations, said to be blessings from their god The Great Leaker who blessed the world by crying tears of great magical sickness onto the trolls. Blessing those hit with the tears greater intelligence according to their belief, allowing them to even pinpoint in some cases the influence of another psionic being such as an illithid or intellect devourer. Though those with such great power were rare and far between, many pseudotrolls would rise to power through their ability to stop the ThriKreen in their endless hunger through spraying of their pheremones all over their tribes lands. This, with the increased capabilities amongst the pseudotrolls allowed for small roving bands of trolls to grow into tribes who would conquer and even in some cases eat the ThriKreen hives that had previously existed in their lands. This would all come to a head as a certain pseudotroll blessed with the highest intellect to date for any troll manage to conquer his way through the remaining tribes of trolls. As it is believed that Seji himself managed to not only outwit all those around him who had risen to power, but even those who had spent his early years as his master. With this new rise to power, the question now stands if Seji will continue his hunt for the ThriKreen or turn back and conquer those who had experimented upon him and wipe out the toth kingdoms.     Info to still be edited
