General Info

Though some races know this people as "Mind Flayers", the Illithid peoples are hardly as terrifying as their slur would denote. Their race seem to have alien minds and anatomy that does not appear to be constrained by the limits of lifespan or disease that the rest of us are. Though they have no vocal or written language, they were able to speak in our native tounges telepathically.

Khabira Madani

Meaning "Aware" or "knowing" in their mental language, this city is aptly named. Through a mix of psionics and engineering, this race has brought order and peace to their portion of the underdark. Though we were prepared for any hostility or negative reaction to our presence, we were delightfully suprised by their hospitality. Where we expected to see a nation of slavery in it's most brutal form, we saw a utopia brought about by psychic dominance. A city without crime, with one mind all working for the good of their city. We were toured around by the leader of the city Zebrel himself and shown the facilities where the collectives of elderbrains produce their form of offspring. We were shown their slave housing facilities where slaves are rotated out on shifts into the mines and manufacturing facilities. Though we saw no physical fortifications other than the 1 entrance into the heart of the mountain, our psychic colleague noted powerful psionic and arcane effects around and throughout the city intended to ward off unwelcome outsiders.

Eldritch Alchemy

The Illithid, masters of psionic crafting, convened in a clandestine forge to give us some insight into their unique methods of construction. A colossal psionic crystal hummed overhead, casting an eerie radiance on the macabre scene unfolding below. Through their eldritch abilities, the illithid wove a grotesque ballet, melding harvested flesh from unspeakable sources with cold, alien metal. Sinewy tendrils and metallic frames intertwined in a nightmarish symphony, guided by the mind-flayer architects' deliberate will. As psionic whispers echoed, instruments of alien magic hovered, etched with shimmering glyphs. With a collective will, the illithid conducted a transmutation of horror into the sublime. The culmination of their dark artistry stood as a testament—an amalgamation of pulsating organic matter and alien steel, a grotesque construct radiating an aura of malevolence that defies mortal comprehension. We have not been able to recreate their technology to this day.

The Great Kabir

As a city under one mind, Zebrel is known to his people as The Great Kabir. His mind persists through the entirety of the colony and in result the colony shares one will.

Nobility

Here we shall discuss notable noble houses through the Illithid Colony.

No Nobility

Though The Great Kabir is an honorary title for the leading mind of this colony, there are no actual houses or family bloodlines as they all came from The Great Kabir himself.

Military

Here we will discuss any military information noted from the illithid colony.

Jaysh

Though our scholars were not able to distinguish any one group of citizens or slaves as guards or warriors, it should be noted that each illithid in the colony possesses a powerful psionic ability. We were later told that though the colony does not strive for violence, if the need arises, the population is able to form into what The Great Kabir referred to as a Jaysh. He refused to elaborate as to what a Jaysh was or what it entailed.

Voidstrife Conflict

When we asked The Great Kabir where his people came from and why they were so reclusive, he explained that their people were cautios for good reason. He described how his people came from a time similar to our own with similar pantheons and technologies. But his people were hated there, enslaved and pursued by practitioners of a foul fusion of arcane and divine magic they referred to as the Cthonic Aetherial Nexus. It took all of The Great Kabirs psychic prowess and his heritage as a time dragon to escape with a small number of his people to a new and uncertain time.

Events/Holidays

We shall begin to discuss notable holidays and events in the Illithid colony.

Mindgate Resonance

This holiday focuses on achieving higher states of consciousness and enlightenment, with various rituals, meditations, and activities designed to expand the illithids' understanding of the universe. On this day they also send out psionic probes to other timelines in the hope that they find other remnants of their former colony.

Religion

Here we will discuss the religious beliefs of the Illithid Colony.

Divine Detestation

The Illithid colony have a strong distrust for the gods. While mortals were ultimately the weilders of the Cthonic Aetherial Nexus that drove them from their timeline, it was through the gods assistance that the mortals of their time were able to create such a terrible weapon.

Illithid are not subject to any known diseases. We are unsure whether this is due to their reclusiveness from the rest of the world or a superior physiology.

Ability score increase

You as an illithid naturally gain a +2 to Intelligence and a +1 in either charisma or wisdom.   

Age

Illithid are noted to be immortal in theory, this is due to the misconception of the race and lack of knowledge. While many illithid look similar to each other, they are said to be impossible to know the difference between one another to the other races. However, there natural lifespan seems to be based on the race they were before turning and then multiplying it by two. With elder brains and higher society illithid being known to live for thousands of years if left undisturbed.     

Phenotypes

Noted for there blue or purple skin color, the illithid seems to be able to change its skin tone as it wants. Almost as if wearing an illusionary robe over there bodies at all times, though it should be noted this does not allow them to camoflague. But rather that this seems to be a way of showing power. Many illithid prefering to be seen when they are indepedant similar to peacocking nobles from other races. Though those tied to a hive, tend to be noted for staying more in the darker areas to avoid there appearances being noted before there masters plan begins.   

Height and Weight

  Similarly to the phenotypes, illithids seem to take on the appearance of height and weight based similarly to there original species. With the exception that many will become leaner when they transform and there heads will extend, thus many heavier set races are noted for slimming down quite a bit when they turn. 

Alignment

Illithid share there allignment with there hive, but if they have become independant, they tend to focus on a lawful evil or neutral evil as there morals seem to always be loser then the mortal races. Though an individual illithid is a cunning, intelligent and quite strong, they tend to focus on staying in the shadows, only being seen when they are showing there magnificence. Thus leading many to tend to not stand by the moral codes of the mortal races, considering them to be to weak of mind, thus many tend to have there own hard to understand code of conduct or just dont see life beyond themselves as anything more then livestock.     

Speed

Alongside the height, weight and phenotypes, illithids who have been transformed tend to take in the speed of there race they were born as. If not noted then 30ft standard.   

Founding

Here we shall explain when the race came to be, how it came to be, and whom it is credited to and where. Unknown to the world overall, it is said that once a society existed on the island with the illithid. However, as Mov'asi took control of Crakec, so did a strange dragon rise from the depths of the Sunny Waves island. Once known as a vacation destination for many adventurers seeking rare minerals and sunny beaches. Now a quite land that seems to rumble every time the dragon ruler moves beneath the mountain, the land has been noted as nothing more then a final destination. With few adventurers who manage to arrive on the island with the many krackens patrolling the seas around the island, the adventurers are rarely noted to come back. Leaving the land and nation left almost unknown.
