The Flared Dukedom

Cities

Here we will show the maps of the kingdoms, duchies and lands throughout each of the ages.

First Spark

A city said to be filled with mercenaries, pirates, and any individual who considered themselves tougher than nails. Streets described to be marked with blood and bones of the fallen. Each tavern and inn sporting a tally of the dead, injured and banned. A city of fools as many would describe it, but from fools, heroes are made. Or so seems to be the belief of Flare of Ember. As her city is known for having soldiers that keep the law of the land, with never a law broken by any individual. All who would dare, are found dead within the streets by the next morning. A city of lawless order that manages to stand together whenever poked. One of the most iconic features of the city is the central church tower that sports a large solorium bell. The bell is said to ring whenever a monster or enemy army is raiding. Whenever this bell rings, it is said that every soul who can hear it, find themselves charging out onto the field with nary a worry for death. Fighting like mad men, and destroying all who dare threaten the city.

Nobility

Here we shall discuss notable noble houses through the time periods.

Flare "The Order's Master" of Ember

Said to have left the lands of the pakob in hopes of founding her own order. Flare was said to be one of the most talented amongst the monks, however she grew tired of the lack of reason to use her abilities. Without war, and without an internal enemy to call a rival, Flare grew bolder with boredom. Eventually seeing the ninth prince Pierre getting chosen to become the champion of a powerful god, Flare saw her chance. She would find herself snuggled up to the young prince until they hit the first town outside of their home. Or that would have been the plan, had the prince not nearly crashed the ship on his first voyage and nearly killed them all. Through the crash though the opportunity had already arisen, the fire giant clans were mere steps away and Flare had found her escape. With this she would find herself later within the city of Dragon's Crown, working under the mercenary title "Knight of the Chalice", as she constantly carried a wine chalice with her. Through her ability, and the men she led into battles ability were unmatched. Having vanquished raiders from the Beastmail clan on multiple occasions and even having defeated the elusive Black Bone Og. Flare would find herself once again at fates beck and call, when the newly journeymen smith Normac would find himself in need of her services. Her willingness to protect the weak, and slay even slavers in a city without authority, yes, she would be exactly what Normac would need. Flare would find herself once again tested, though she found the dragon to be quite strange, he somehow convinced the young mercenary captain to try and slay an apex monster. One they called Sorin “The Glowing Blade”, with his death and the near elimination of their expeditionary force. The two would split the lands, allowing Flare to build her knight order to defeat the evil fiends of the lands. And for Normac to provide her with the weapons and armor to do so, so long as the two stayed at each others back.

Religious beliefs

Here we shall discuss the different religious beliefs in this kingdoms history throughout the periods.

Primordial Goddess

Said to have been the birth mother of the Pakob race. When she was slain, it is said that her last will allowed for a wish spell strong enough that even Theith could not stop it or wanted to. And with her dying breath the Pakob race were given life from her lifeless body. Thus all of the Pakob celebrate the goddess as their one true mother and hold sacrifices in her name in the worst of times.

Events/Holidays

We shall begin to discuss notable holidays and events in this kingdom. Explaining further on where they come from and what goes on during them.

Marriage

Commonly most Pakob do not wed without the head of the family making a decision. Or in some cases for those rare few families who control one of the four main monasteries, an alliance between the four can be created by decision of the Prince Elect himself. However, the majority of the time, the head of the families arranges the marriage in hope for alliances between families. Or in some cases for the chance of stronger offspring.

Pathom (Primordial) Festival

A festival that happens every year upon the day of the defeat of the first and last king of the Pakob. During this celebration the Pakob are said to release themselves for twenty four hours from their monastery duties and celebrate as true “heathens” would. Through large gatherings of both genders. As well as feasting for the full time period on the great elemental boars only known to be native to the Pakob mountains.

Kan Saheni (The Offering)

A rare event in the Pakob lands, in which the prince elect is offered to the Primordial Goddess herself in dire times. The Pakob belief is that by sacrificing the Prince Elect who is said to be the grandest of Pakob. The Primordial Goddess in return will offer her blessing for bringing one of her lost children back to her. Thus helping with whatever catastrophic situation is currently plaguing the Pakob people.

Velakhong Kan Kuson (Time of Charity)

An event held every 300-400 years in which a new Pakob is elected by the Athi-Kan-Bodi to rule over the entirety of the nation. It is said that the way this is done, though no outsiders are permitted within the lands of the Pakob during this time period. The Pakob of great wealth and power begin a massive charity event. In which all candidates begin donating all that they have for the benefit of the Pakob. In which the Athi-Kan-Bodi then decide based on the gifts, speeches, and peoples outlook on the candidate who will rule next.

Economy

Here we shall discuss the unique economics of different nations as needed.

Economic Status

The current noted treasury value of the nation through raw resource development

Raw Treasury

With a raw treasury of 500,000 diamond coins, 100,000 ruby coins, and 600,000 sapphire hills.

Coins

Here we shall find how the coins look, what materials they are made of, and what the value of the coins are on the overall market.   DIAMOND CROWNS
The first coin that replaced the common platinum that the dragons used for its shininess. Giants though, are not dragons, thus the more common material of liquid diamonds would be harvested from the cores of the volcanoes in the heart of the magma as it was believed. This material would be farmed to make coins and other magical items.   RUBY VOLCANOS
Believed to be equivalent to the gold piece commonly used by the lesser nations including dragons. Thus the Jotun-Modr pioneered the coin in the shape of their homeland to be used by those sworn to them. These simple coins are individually 5cm by 5cm like the other coins, however it is clear and seems to sparkle from its craftsmanship only possible by the Jotun-Modr who individually made each coin.   SAPPHIRE HILLS
Sapphire hills were thinner coins due to there higher rarity, though most giants valued sapphires less then rubies and only slightly more then emeralds. Thus most recognized this simple hill drawn with sheep grazing into the individual sapphires as a silver coin.   EMERALD PLAINS
Lastly and most common in the Jotun-Modr volcanos were emeralds. As the material was farmed simply from their individual Rok-heap herds. Thus simple grass would be carved into the coins as apprentices practiced there arts on the coins.

Trade Goods

Here you shall find the trade goods this race has on offer in the nations they inhabit

Mercenaries

A nation that has developed around ranking of its many mercenaries and how treatment is offered. Multiple companies are known to control entire areas of the city in hopes of attracting customers to hire them. As a city wide ranking is posted outside the large central church that Flare herself lives within. It is said that each mercenary whether individual or a company, is judged for the profit they bring the city and the grand dukedom. It is said those who gain the highest rank are allowed entry into the cities army. A job that is said to pay more then any other in the nation, as well as grant the perks of joining the order itself. Each member of the order is marked by there expensive armor and holy sigil of the flaming wooden sword. Though it is strange that those who leave the church after recieving there blessing always seem zealous yet undefeatable in battle.
