Kung Foo

https://forgottenrealms.fandom.com/wiki/Foo_creature   A creature said to have ebony colored stone for skin, though when observed close up one would easily notice the slight translucent appearance. Historians hypothesis that the creature was made from darkened death ore and kungdium mixed together to meld with what the body was original made out of. Though shaped in the appearance of a large square lion, one would find themselves quite outmatched to assume it was as slow as it looked. With the reflexes capable of matching most apex cretures, Kung Foo was especially known for his ability to move anywhere on the battlefield, almost vanishing and reappearing from nowhere.

History

Kung Foo's origin like many creatures is somewht of a mystery, where he came from and what caused a creature like this to rise is still a mystery even in the modern day. What is known is that prior to taking the territory, it was said that a large proto-fiend town had founded in the center of the city that we now call the "City in the Mist". A once powerful colony led by the third born of the previous proto-fiend king, the city would find itself one day attacked out of nowhere by the vicious foo creature. Within two days the city and all its inhabitants were reported to be dead or fleeing with few ever actually escaping the carnage. Kung Foo would hunt each of the proto-fiends down without any appearance of a motive, though later accounts would state the creature had actually been attacked by rangers from the city looking to capture it for a quick coin. Whatever the truth may be, the city would fall, and its people would be slaughtered.
In the coming years Kung Foo is said to have set up a strange magical circle around the cit, causing it to be surrounded in mist so that none but the good aligned may enter. The city itself is said to take in outsiders so long as they follow the teachings of Kung Foo. Though the city would not for many years allow any to enter, slaying dragons and beast alike that tried to forcibly take the land. Kung Foo would instead spend his days in those early years of conquest, deep within the libraries of the city, learning all there was about magic and the art of demons. It is said that it was one of these books that allowed the creature to gain its abilities and unlock its full monk potential.
For years after this, Kung Foo would begin to invite and track down other foo creatures to join its city and teach the art of monk to. Though in more recent years, with the creatures family line secured down to four generations, Kung Foo has been noted to be bringing more and more sentient beings into its ranks. Many historians believe this is in hope of building an army to soon conquer the lands around him. Though others believe with his more caring mentality, that Kung Foo only seeks to protect his descedants by amassing an army of loyalist followers nearly as skilled as himself.  The truth, we may never know.
