Genasi - Pakob (Pakob)

Language: Lao

General Information

God killers, the worlds natural defense, mother natures children, all terms used to describe the Pakob. Said to be a race from the plane of elements who had first invaded the world in its prime state of reactionary chaos and raw magic. The Pakob would live in silence in the world for centuries or so that's what the Pakob would tell you. In truth, or rather what we believe to be the truth, the races like the yuan-ti had managed to come into being through the drops of blood from a primordial goddess after being attacked by a being forgotten to history. Many believe that through the shedding of divine blood upon the prime state of reactionary chaos and raw magic that the world would create the four races of Pakob and even further subraces that would be lost to the history books or purged as weaker nobility or clans.

City info

Here we shall list the specific city info if any is listed for the cities history.

First Age

Vang Vad

A stronghold named after the first son of Primorial "The Golden Queen". The stronghold was noted for its large paladinium and magicum mines that allowed the single stronghold to produce extremely powerful clerics and paladins sworn to their queen directly. The city was said to have three unique buildings outside of its many smithies and libraries. The first was the massive church with a statue to the Primordial made out of gold holding the head of a forgotten god that is carved from sapphire within her hand. This church is said to house the large oath taker order who serves the queen directly as her vanguard. The second building is noted for its large three pronged tower around a solid golden statue of Primordial, as each tower houses a different clerical order to their queen in exchange for the study of the magical domain. The three towers themselves are said to glow three different colors when a god descends upon the mortal plane, red for chaotic aligned gods, blue for lawful, and green for neutral aligned gods. The last building to stick out stands at the center which is known as Dragon's Halt, a castle or rather fortress made from dragon bones, the skin of a creature that gives the building anti magic, and a strange stone that allows the building to almost regenerate. Dragon's Halt is said to have been crafted by killing one of the first children of Ked-Liz when they attempted to force the city to serve her. The city opened its gates and when the dragons entered it was said that Ked-Liz could do nothing but watch as her child was captured and butchered in front of her. Few know why the city was spared, only that for one reason or another, the city still stood and Ked-Liz never returned.

Beginning of Chaos onwards

Pedresh

Known as the capital and said to be in the ancient Pakob tongue as the City of Demons. This city gained its name after The Humbling, in which Nix Riversong had the Chaosai rebuild it with the central pillar of the city being the High Church of the Three Pillar Church.
Much of the city is covered in small monasteries, with each being a embassy from one of the four in the nation. And it is said that at any time in Pedresh you can hear the Pakob chanting for the High King Stone and his sons.

Mangkon Vad (Dragon Temple)

Said to be a single temple with a large city wrapped around it like the others. The Mangkon Vad reaches far beyond the eyes of a normal commoner. And is seen as a single white almost pyramid that has a large jade dragon that was carved by the first Athi Kan Bodi in the shape of one of the last jade dragons known to walk Silencia before the splitting.
This temple lays in the south and guards the massive river pass that the Yuan Ti Hives are known to traverse. And it is said the Mangkon Vad has an underground town that specifically watches for any potential Yuan Ti invasions. As well as send their young recruits into the tunnels to pass a sort of initiation by killing a beast the traverses these tunnels.

Tauaen Vad (Sun Temple)

The Tauaen temple that is shown in the east with its massive ruby sun sculpture at the top of a very squat tower. It is said that the ruby itself, when the light from the sun passes through it, turns to pure mana and elemental magic. Allowing those who train at the temple to grow stronger from meditation in its path and allows them to open their ki paths further then any of the other temples.

Ngao Vad (Shadow Temple)

The Ngao Vad or Shadow Temple is said to be an underground structure designed around the rehabilitation of escaped slaves from the goblin nation that it guards the borders of. This temple allows for all of its trainees to practice the hidden arts of both shadow manipulation, as well as slave rehabilitation. The Ngao temple is also the only temple to still practice and understand the art of slave collars due to its close proximity to the border in which many slaves from all over the goblin nation traverse.

Sadtha Vad (Pious Temple)

The Sadtha Vad or Pious Temple is well known for its large recruitment of high elves. As well as the practice of ritual cannablisim of the old and dying. This is due to the cultural acceptance of the old high elves and the understanding of its nations way of gaining power. This is also the only temple in which one can learn how to siphon mana from another being without having to consume them. Though these arts are only taught to the highest ranked amongst their covenant.

Unique Locations

The High Church
The main attraction for all pilgrims of the Three Pillar Church. It is said to be the grandest of all structures in the known world, with massive pillars of gold and oventium mixed together to hold the bright blue roof that reflects the sun and causes a strange almost particle like effect across the city. And with its massive dark iron bell, the city can be heard for miles when church begins and the bell rings ever day at eight in the morning and eight at night.
This is also the home of the Da who is the high priest of the Three Pillar Church. It is said that his quarters and living conditions would make an emperor jealous for how magnificent they are. And his vaults of long lost or forbidden artifacts are said to be vast beyond any conquerors dreams.

Technology periods

Here we shall discuss the main technological discoveries by this race.

Hierarchy

Here we shall discuss how the overall ladder of power is designed in this races territories.

Kasad (king)

A title once held by the rulers of the Pakob lands. Long ago this title was said to be given to the strongest of the Pakob royal families. With the concept of strength proven through either personal combat amongst the candidates when the previous Kasad had passed on. Or by right of prestige. Right of Prestige was said to be determined through actions that the candidate had accomplished. A good example of this, would be when in ancient history the Pakob declared an outright war against the gods themselves and attacked all who arrived in their lands. With the eventual leading of the event known as The Humbling.
However it is noted that some gods long lost to history, were cut down by the Pakob. As well as it is confirmed that the Pakob are the only race to have ever killed a god or designed a way of magic and fighting to combat gods specifically with their full divine power.

Chaosai (Prince)

The Chaosai was established officially as the ruling class after the event known as The Humbling. In which a new form of rulership would be crafted by Nix Riversong. The Chaosai would be elected by the Athi Kan Bodi. And given power over the nation as a sort of holy figure that would both lead the nation and also spread the word of their current worship. Nix would give the Athi Kan Bodi a warning that if they should ever displease the gods again, the Chaosai were to be sacrificed in a ritual to regain the favor of the Three Pillar Church.

Athi-Kan-Bodi (Abbot)

The term used for the highest ranked of the five monasteries. With each representing a different kind of martial arts. However, a quick note is needed that after the event of The Humbling, only four monasteries are recognized and allowed to train new Phrasong. These almost nobleman like figures are said to be chosen for both their ability in combat and great wisdom that comes with age. Some current day Athi Kan Bodi are said to be over 380 years old, and there are noted members that are even older and more experienced. In fact it is mentioned in most common texts about the Pakob, that they are one of the only races who know the secrets to immortality without the sacrificing of ones soul or afterlife.
Each Athi Kan Bodi is said to individually lead their monasteries and control one of the sectors of the Pakob lands. With the Mangkon (Dragon) monastery in the south, the Tauaen (Sun) in the east, the Ngao (Shadow) in the west, and the Sadtha (Pious) in the north. Each teaches many different forms of martial arts developed by the older temples long forgotten. However, each of the monasteries have a long sealed specific ability granted to the highest members that makes any of the martial arts they choose to learn at one of the four monasteries far stronger than the common Phrasong.

Phrasong (Monk)

The Phrasong is a title given to any member who has been a monk at a monastery and is recognized as a fully fledged member. Thus those who join may not receive this title for many years until the Athi Kan Bodi recognizes their talent and approves their joining of the monastery.
Those provided with this title, handle both the day to day activities that are required to maintain the monastery. As well as act as spies, diplomats, guards, and the nations military force when necessary. Thus all Phrasong are taught through many years on vast subjects. And those who are able to master many of the arts required by the monastery and nation overall, are said to be of the highest ranking in the nation. And given far more freedoms then your average Phrasong who would not be able to leave the monastery grounds.

Khon Thouapai (Commoner)

The Khon Thouapai are simply the average citizen of the Pakob nation. These make up the majority of the nations population. With this term covering everything from tradesmen and merchants to the poor and homeless.

Nobility

Here we shall discuss notable noble houses through the time periods.

Primorial “The Broken”

First king of the Genasi and the one who would defy a god in Nix Riversong. Known at first as Primorial "The Golden Queen" it is said that historically she would glow with such a brightness throughout battle that many believed the earth genasi to actually be a golden genasi. In truth, Primorial was a golden mineral quasi genasi, a rare genetic change had caused her to become golden rather than her parents who had both been onyx genasi. Said to have been the daughter of the Primordial Goddess Siles, and having inherited her demi god capabilities as a druidic caster who had mastered both wizardry and oath taking. Primorial was said to be the last King of the first age as she would strike her people into a great golden age of peace while the rest of the continent would implode in war. With no interest in the other races, it is said that Primordial would spend her time reinforcing the border of her territory in the first age and expanding further wealth within her own nation.

Military

Here we will discuss the noted military at the beginning of each age

First Age

Here we will see what each nation power of this race had at the beginning of the first age

Primordial "The Golden Queen"

Noted as having an army of around 10,000 oath takers, 12,000 clerics of magic domain, 6,000 dragon slayers, and 4,000 slaves that can be mobilized.

Wars

Here we shall discuss the notable wars for each period and who they were against.

The Humbling (7001BS)

At the end of the Age of Chaos and as many races at the time would record it as, the end of the God Wars. The Pakob who had come out almost unscathed during the massive war, now stood to gain the most from the weakened races and the remaining gods who ruled. Though the High King Stone had not yet been crowned, the many gods were on the edge of death and were one push away from being destroyed.
During the year 7001 BS, the Pakob had finally mastered the martial arts known as the Phi Pisad Fist, which in common is said to translate roughly to The Demonic Fist. It is said that this once proud temple where monks specialized in hunting divine beings and beasts alike, would stand strongest amongst the nations warriors. Primordial who at the time was known as The Demon of the East would declare outright war for the seat of the High Kingship that Stone “The Corrupt” was still attempting to attune to. During this time Primordial knew that Stone could not leave the throne, and thus would be weakened without his ability to fight hand to hand let alone without his axe.
Thus the war began with Primordial leading the charge with first stealing the godhood of the two sons sent to deal with him and his army. Grom and Athelwolf. It is said that when they arrived, Primordial used the power of one of the lost elemental forces to chain both and begin the blood ritual. What Primordial did not know at the time, was that both Athelwolf and Grom had coming willingly, knowing they would lose their godhood and divine powers. For it is said that Athelwolf who had been granted the ability to see the future, knew exactly what his father would become and refused to be a part of it.   Thus the two gods are said to have given their power willingly to Primordial and the Pakob people. What Primorial and the two brothers did not account for, was when Nix would arrive post ceremony with an army of great wolves known purely as the ancient river wolf tribe. A long lost gnoll faction that had lost their sentience in exchange for immortality and service to Nix himself.
With Nix’s army, it is said that the cities of the Pakob fell one after another as their walls could not hold back the blows from either the ancient river wolf tribesman or the bow that Nix was so famous for carrying.
During a particular battle it is said that Nix Riversong would gain his name as he summoned up a massive body of water with a single song played from his harp-like bow. In which the capital at the time would feel the full wrath of.
This battle would later be known as “The Humbling” for Primorial and all of his kin would stand upon the walls fighting tooth and nail for every inch of ground against the massive horde of great wolves that Nix had brought with him. As the last stand of the Pakob people, Primorial continued to rally his troops with the thought that should they lose they would be wiped from the face of Silencia, which would later turn out to be half true.   As the days went on, the siege continued as a bloody and fierce fight. Until finally Nix Riversong’s massive water elemental he had summoned would appear and drown the city in a single day. With no survivors remaining in the city. Nix would revive those who had chosen to fight beside Primorial, and offer them a simple deal.   He would either continue wiping out every single Pakob that existed on the face of Silencia. Or they could swear fealty to the Three Pillar Church forever more and only teach the understanding and respect of both High King Stone and his son Nix Riversong. Should they choose this option, he made it clear that he would be sealing away the divinity they had captured in a single weapon to which the Pakob would be forever tasked with guarding.   The nation accepted this, and the history of the Phi Pisad Fist would be destroyed and those who could still practice the art would be hunted to their last. The monastery itself would be destroyed by Nix Riversong and replaced with a massive chapel now known as the High Church of the Three Pillar church. And the item as well as the information on this demonic martial arts was said to be sealed far below with the ancient river wolf tribe and the water elemental that Nix could no longer unsummon.

The Chaotic Ravaging 7000 to 6997 BS

The Chaotic Ravaging would be known to many of the other races who were conquered as the darkest period in their history. However for the Pakob, this would not exactly be the case. While the nation was conquered, much of the Pakob lands are said to have been left alone. This is said to be due to Nix Riversongs protection. In a show of good faith only a year after The Humbling. But in truth, the Changlings knew that going and destroying the nation after it swore fealty and became one of the main protectors of the Three Pillar church. It would cause more issues amongst the Changlings to destroy them then was worth at the time.   However, it is noted that the Pakob resistance is said to have fought in a few small towns, though none would truly stand any sort of a chance. Thus The Great Brown Bear would allow a Chaosai to rule in exchange that they swore fealty to his clan. This would lead the Pakob to not be exactly slaves but rather a vassal nation who provided both religious and economic services to the Great Brown Bear’s clan and empire.   It is also to note, that one of the biggest reasons the Yuan Ti dislike the Pakob is due to the Pakob nation assisting in slave processing and creation of slave collars for the Great Brown Bears new empire and slave resource.

The Charring 6700 to 6621 BS

The Charring Wars are known to actually have been four different occasions with the Yuan Ti rising up multiple times and slaughtering many changlings as the fights continued. However, it is also known that the Pakob were hesitant at first to rebel, having found many economic increases to their land and power during the Golden Bears rule.   But when the time came, and the Yuan Ti began to win, with the goblin nation also joining the war. The Pakob finally showed their true colors by using the command word that had been given to the Chaosai, that deactivated all slave collars that had been made by the nation. Thus causing a massive slaughter amongst many of the Changling clans, as their slaves who had been training and working extensively and thus in great physical condition. Would all begin their rebellion with the destruction of most of the head clans. However, a secondary note must be made, that while the Pakob did turn the slave collars off and assist in arming the slave rebels. It should also be known that the Pakob Chaosai did hide away many of the royal family in case of the slaves losing. And thus gaining more favor with the ruling faction.   When the war concluded and not a single Pakob drop of blood had been spilled, the Chaosai decreed that the royal family of the Bear clan had been slaughtered to appease the enslaved nations. Though if this is true, no body was ever accounted for or confirmed. Thus many of the Yuan Ti and Goblin races still to this day do not trust the Pakob people.

Events/Holidays

We shall begin to discuss notable holidays and events in this culture. Explaining further on where they come from and what goes on during them.

Marriage

Commonly most Pakob do not wed without the head of the family making a decision. Or in some cases for those rare few families who control one of the four main monasteries, an alliance between the four can be created by decision of the Prince Elect himself. However, the majority of the time, the head of the families arranges the marriage in hope for alliances between families. Or in some cases for the chance of stronger offspring.

Pathom (Primordial) Festival

A festival that happens every year upon the day of the defeat of the first and last king of the Pakob. During this celebration the Pakob are said to release themselves for twenty four hours from their monastery duties and celebrate as true “heathens” would. Through large gatherings of both genders. As well as feasting for the full time period on the great elemental boars only known to be native to the Pakob mountains.

Kan Saheni (The Offering)

A rare event in the Pakob lands, in which the prince elect is offered to the Primordial Goddess herself in dire times. The Pakob belief is that by sacrificing the Prince Elect who is said to be the grandest of Pakob. The Primordial Goddess in return will offer her blessing for bringing one of her lost children back to her. Thus helping with whatever catastrophic situation is currently plaguing the Pakob people.

Velakhong Kan Kuson (Time of Charity)

An event held every 300-400 years in which a new Pakob is elected by the Athi-Kan-Bodi to rule over the entirety of the nation. It is said that the way this is done, though no outsiders are permitted within the lands of the Pakob during this time period. The Pakob of great wealth and power begin a massive charity event. In which all candidates begin donating all that they have for the benefit of the Pakob. In which the Athi-Kan-Bodi then decide based on the gifts, speeches, and peoples outlook on the candidate who will rule next.

Religious beliefs

Here we shall discuss the different religious beliefs in this races history throughout the periods.

Shagnarok

The daughter of the Primordial Goddess and revered by the Pakob who still refused to bend the knee. Shagnarok is looked on as the last hope to return to the old ways of the Pakob and is recognized as the true successor and god amongst the old ways. Though very little is seen of her public worship, it is said that every Pakob hopes for her return in secret and plan to do all they can to help with this.

Primordial Goddess

Said to have been the birth mother of the Pakob race. When she was slain, it is said that her last will allowed for a wish spell strong enough that even Theith could not stop it or wanted to. And with her dying breath the Pakob race were given life from her lifeless body. Thus all of the Pakob celebrate the goddess as their one true mother and hold sacrifices in her name in the worst of times.

Nix Riversong

Nix would forever be the main patron of the Pakob people after The Humbling. And is said to not be able to be slain unless the Pakob were to be completely wiped out. Thus he is one of the only gods whos divine power, though not a true god, is unable to be removed from position. And is said to have been at the end of 37 AS, in hiding amongst the Pakob, waiting for his time once more.

Known diseases

Here we shall discuss known diseases to be active and/or discovered or cured during the different time periods of these races

Kunsunsia Ongpakob (Loss of Element)

The term in common of “Loss of Element” is a general term used by other nations treating the Pakob when they lose their affinity to their element. As the Pakob come in six different forms, that being the earth, water, air, fire, lightning, and light. When they travel away from their homelands and are said to attempt a form of cross breeding with other races. Many Pakob lose their elemental affinity and begin to return to what they were once, a strange ooze-like creature that has lost all ability to speak or reshape their form back.

Khab Koen (Overdrive)

A common disease that the Pakob face alone as a species. This disease can cause the individual Pakob to lose its ability to control its element and go into a sort of overdrive. As the body continues to try and process the elements around it. They begin to overheat and the elemental magic stored within begins exploding outwards in an almost chaotic sense of the term.

Economy

Here we shall discuss the unique economics of different nations as needed.

Trade Goods

Here you shall find the trade goods this race has on offer in the nations they inhabit.

Anatomy

Here we shall both provide a design as well as an explanation of the anatomy of the race in question. (image of )

Ability score increase

With a +2 to constitution the genasi rival the red orc in health, but health is the only similarity.

Age

Once immortal the Genasi people find themselves still with long lifespans compared to others. But nothing compared to their once proud glory as the primal beings. The average genasi lives for around 300 to 400 years of age and reaches maturity at the age of 50.

Phenotypes

Depending on which genasi they are, they take on the appearance of that element, including tattoos, skin tone, eye color, and hair patterns.   This means that typically those of Lexra (fire) are known to have wild hair that can go from yellows to reds in color and eyes to match. As well as tattoos that seem to match the wild spirit of this subrace.   Grendki (ground) are known to have more chiseled features, darker hair colors and eye colors, strong and sturdy bodies and similar tattoos or markings that represent the element.   Auroquo (water) tend to be more fluid overall, with taller bodies, hair that seems to always be wet and flowing. This accompanied by tattoos of the seas, ships and other such things makes them stand out quite a bit.   Won’quo (wind) tend to be skinny, free spirited, and green of some sort to white in both eye and skin tone. These lot are the rarest to find due to them being the sort to avoid others as they feel unlike their fellow genasi. But most seem to be constantly tinkering with something leading to many to have natural grease marks or small scuffs on their body that are leftover scars from inventions. Most commonly the tattoos of the Won’quo are usually of their inventions.

Height and Weight

Height for all four of the subraces seems to vary between 5ft to 6’5ft depending on the genasi subrace. And weight averaging between 150lbs to 250lbs is common.

Alignment

The genasi are probably the only race to stay truly neutral in almost all affairs. Having little to no interest outside of their nation in the modern day.

Speed

With an average walking speed of 30ft they are common among the other races for speed of movement.

Magic

Unlike any other race in the world of Silencia, the Pakob does not process mana at all. Instead they are only capable of magic through the elements they absorb based on what element they are born into. While an earth and fire pakob may create a fire pakob. This fire pakob could only process the magic of fire with a weaker affinity to earth. Though they could also use at a weaker affinity air and water as well. Similar to how the elements work overall in the world, the Pakob can only use those that their stronger affinity is not countered to.

Founding

Here we shall explain when the race came to be, how it came to be, and whom it is credited to and where.   The genasi are an interesting race, known to have been created during the forming of what we now know as Silencia. Upon the creation of the planet we sit upon, the genasi would be born as the first even before the gods themselves. Born of the elements the genasi four subraces of Lexra (fire), Grendki (ground), Auroquo (water) and Won’quo (wind) would become the ruling species until Alenta created her children. Even then the genasi were creatures of pure chaos with unchecked power and lacking in any sort of civility.   The four genasi would be said to fight with the gods themselves, fight against the snow dwarves, the gnolls, the high elves, and the yuan ti continuously. Known for their utter violence and willingness to prove themselves, the genasi would eventually be put in check upon Nix Riversongs birth. Nix would be born to the High Queen and High King as the oldest of his four siblings. Along with the crown prince title of the gods, Nix would be tasked almost immediately with the need to prove himself to his battle hardened father. Thus, Nix would take to the task of reigning in the most chaotic and dangerous of the races, the genasi.   During this time Nix would touch down on the mortal plane and declare an all out purge of the chaotic and imperfect creatures. For they had no balance and seemed to seek nothing but destruction and more chaos. During the great battle known as the Birth of Four, Nix would defeat each of the subraces’ king, in single combat. Declaring that they would serve him now and live on his authority. Thus the Rules of Balance came to be in the land and the genasi were forced to abide.   These Rules of Balance limited the genasi from declaring wars longer than they had been at peace. Required them to keep an exact balance between the four subraces of population. And lastly would limit the amount of mana to what is known as the Balanced Chalice where the pool of mana would be stored for the entire nation and only refilled once every year by Nix himself. These rules would limit the genasi and keep them in perfect order, sending a message to other races who would cross Nix of how brutal of a man he could be. And would impress his father with both his creativity and power to leash such a wild beast.   To this day the genasi live in perfect balance, killing or sending out those children born that broke the scale and only allowing them back when the time came. They would begin a long hatred of the other races and extreme isolated views as to avoid major conflict as to not break the scales of balance themselves. The genasi are a people who live in fear and acceptance and have kept it this way for longer than most expect.
