Commonly found underground and near beholder lairs. It seems that most often, beholders find themselves burrowing into the terrain around in which exposes large amounts of coal. Which as we would learn upon our expedition, they could not use there eye lights to move like they did the ground itself.

Price

On average a piece of coal goes for near 1 sapphire hill piece due to its difficulty to gather. With the deep dark being an unforgiving place, this price can fluctuate depending on nearby underground monsters.

Harvesting DC's

For an experienced professional miner this would be about a difficulty of 10 to find and harvest the material. To the untrained eye, this would be near double its base difficulty. 

Shelf life per part

If kept in cool and dry climates, coal can last indefinitely. However, for the average furnace a piece of coal depending on size, will usually last around two to four hours of heat in a small forge or a 30ft wide room.

Common Uses

As a fuel for forging and as a heat source in the cold winters though usually only by the nobility.
