Well how brave do you feel about attacking a mother bear and her newly born cubs? As these creatures have to be trained from birth like most wolves and bears.
Pelt:
An experienced huntsman can expect around a 15 for the difficulty characterisation. However, those without skill will expect a 20 to the difficulty due to the lack of hunting experience and uniqueness of the creature.
Bones:
An average difficulty of 10 as bones of this size are quite easy to pull out for most of them.
Meat:
With a harvesting difficulty of 18 or higher depending on the profession or lack there of, the creature can be quite difficult to gut. With many new adventurers failing and accidently cutting its stomach or anal glands open on there first try. Thus be careful as these creatures meat is quite sensitive to toxins both from the inside and outside when being harvested.
Beards:
Shockingly easy compared to most but the trick is not in the pelt harvest but the beard itself. With a difficulty of 25 for the average professional hunter, and a 30 for those without the skills needed. These beards can surprisingly break apart quite easily to the untrained knife.
Shelf life per part
Living:
On average the creatures are said to live to the ripe age of thirty five and grow as large as gargatuan if left unchecked. They are considered adults by a year old but usually come into the first adult frame by age three. From there, it is said that with the right circumstances, Bearded Cold Bears have been seen to rise to apex monster status without much trouble from other wildlife. Implying there immense intelligence for a magical animal.
Pelt:
If dealt with proper, they can last up to three years uncured and untailored. Though after that the fur will start to wither, and within another five years the leather will dry out fully.
Bones:
Indefinetly if stored correctly, outside though and depending on weather they can break down in two to five years.
Meat:
Prior to curing only five days though the meat will jerky itself if left out in the hot sun of seventy five or hotter. Drying it to last indefinetly, otherwise the meat also is known for its pungent smell and horrid taste.
Beards:
Though hair like, the beard is said to be more fur then hair proper. Thus many note that within three years te fur will begin the with away. With the earliest signs of it going a bluish tint.
Common Uses
Living:
Most often used as beasts of burden when trained, though they can also be kept similar to guard dogs. With many druid groves who prefer colder or more mountainous terrain to train the beasts for combat. In some rare cases, even mercenaries have been seen riding them with full plate armor designed for there bear mounts.
Pelt:
A strong pelt for cold resistant adventuring as the old timers would tell ya. Nothing keeps a snow beard warmer then a cold bear pelt.
Bones:
A strong material for crafting masterwork materials as a start. Though not innately tougher then the average magical animals of the world, the bearded cold bear does still support a massive frame.
Meat:
Used by many adventurers as a traveling jerky due to its horrible taste when cooked and fresh. Thus many adventurers use it for monster bait or just as a strong jerky to eat in a pinch. It is noted for its high protein and fatigue curing properties in the most dire situations.
Beards:
Used by many for wigs, fake beards and other such items. The beard of a bearded cold bear is said to grant master craftsman great boons of survival and the ability to track creatures that are normal prey for the beasts.
