Karedian

Subspecies/Ethnicity of Laidians

Sometimes referred to as 'Pretty' Laidians, Karedians are known for their pinkish-purple skin and beautiful gradient eyes. During the time of Laidian enslavement, Karedians were specifically bred to be trophies and housemaids for rich Ionians, similar to Pearls from Steven Universe.

Culture and cultural heritage

Karedian culture was virtually nonexistent prior to being freed. Due to this, their culture is in shambles, currently a hasty patchwork of aspects of Ionian culture - which they are most used to, but despise - and aspects of Laidian culture.
Karedians almost immediately adopted the Laidian faith, and especially took a liking to Sel. Many of the stories of Sel as an individual were created by Karedians.

Common Dress code

Karedians can be found wearing modest styles of clothing, and generally wear the same things as any other Laidian. It is common to find male Karedians with extremely masculine hairstyles, and female Karedians with slightly masculine hairstyles.

Common Taboos

Karedians especially dislike being unclothed or being asked to wear revealing clothing (but, they have no qualms when other people do that, and in fact enjoy seeing others that way).

Common Myths and Legends

Karedians primarily worship Sel as their main diety, but they still give due respect to Obji and Saiji.

Beauty Ideals

Karedians value physical beauty highly, but only because they feel like everyone else thinks they always have to be beautiful.

Gender Ideals

Due to the fact all Karedians have been assumed to be female by humans and Vastaya, and have always been historically treated as if they all were female by said species, they do not have any distinct gender roles or ideals.

Courtship Ideals

Karedians expect others to approach them in order to initiate courtship. However, some Karedians will muster the bravery to ask someone out from time to time.
