Sifhelm

The swamp moves of its own accord. Appearing outside of small villages for a few days, releasing its victims, the Leached, back into the world. It has never been accurately mapped since those who try to circumvent the beast will, as soon as they believe they have found a path round, step directly into its borders.   The population has no other choice but to accept the swamp as a fact of life. If a Leached appears outside their town, they simply buckle down and prepare to wait for the swamp to grow bored and move on. Towns have starved waiting. Most haven’t, but the swamp suckles on the fear. The townsfolk pray for it to get distracted and move on.
