Personal history

Little is known about John Doe prior to his sudden rise to power. From his own accounts, he claims to be a native of Presidio, the largest city on La Magdalena. It is often surmised he had an extensive background in computer sciences. He first came to prominence in 3180, outwitting the leading houses and cartels of Presidio when he assumed total control of the city's defense network. Doe then issued an ultimatum to the city's leading families: they could either accept him as their new patron, or be destroyed. Most folded, becoming members of his new "Presidio Clique." However, two major cartels, the Cardinals and the Ren Family, tried to call Doe's bluff, only to find themselves rooted out by their own hijacked automated defenses.
Following this dramatic coup, Under his tenure, La Magdalena has prospered, having used the houses' once-disparate resources to turn the system into a political and economic powerhouse.
