Abahin

Who?

Abahin are members of the Order of Jalan, a clandestine group, who have no leader or have lost their honor.

The Meaning of Abahin

To become Abahin is not merely a loss of station--it is a loss of spirit and the loss of their leader. Without their leader to server, they are seen as adrift, their purpose shattered. Their philosophy is one that says: An assassin without a leader is a blade without a wielder--dangerous, unstable, and ultimately meaningless.

The word 'Abahin' carries a dual meaning: it signifies both the unanchored and the unworthy. It is not an honor of be Abahin because to be one means to be a living ghost, an echo of what once was.

The Ritual of Release

The Abahin do not wander. They do not seek a new leader. Their path has only one ending--Siamba, the ritual of self-release.

Siamba is not viewed as a punishment but as a solemn duty. It is performed in accordance with tradition, which depends on the assassin's rank. It is said that the most disciplined among them commit Siamba with such precision and grace that they die without sound or struggle, their faces serene, as though stepping willingly into a dream.

Legacy

After the remaining Abahin committed Siamba, they and the Order were much talked about, especially by Queen Ajana because they killed her father, Morgan. She feared that there were more out there, who would come for her. While the Order was feared in their time, they were forgotten about when the Civil War kicked up and weren't remember again until 300 seasonal cycles later when the book, Order of Jalan: Seeds of Legend, was found, hidden in a secret chamber of the Palace.
