Lonroch's complete population are Dwarves, which makes it even more monocultural than Thalor Alari in Enarion.
Defences
The most important part of Lonroch's defenses is that practically nobody knows where it is. The entrance to the city from the surface is unadorned and rough as the mountains around it, and it's impossible to see that there's anything exciting in the mountains at all from the outside.
After going through a pretty long part of tunnel that looks like natural rough cave the walls become smooth, and the cave ends in a huge chasm, blocking the entrance to the city completely. A drawbridge, just broad enough to fit a normal horse-drawn cart, makes it possible to cross the chasm. This drawbridge can be pulled away to prevent invaders from crossing the chasm, and is usually drawn in by default. A guard post is placed on the city side of the chasm, controlling everyone who tries to enter the city.
