Avengers Initiate #12: Simon Williams/Wonder Man

Simon Sanford Williams (a.k.a. Wonder Man, Subject: JQ-272712-K)

Threat Level: Potentially Omega

Physical Description

Special abilities

  • Ionic Energy Form: The tissue and bones of his entire body have been augmented in strength and to a certain extent supplanted by Pym Particle charged iota in the "ionic ray" bombardment procedure Despite Wonder Man's statements that he is composed of "ionic energy," he is actually composed of organic matter that is permeated with this form of energy. Since his last revival, his physiology has changed a great deal and it's not clear if his external form is ionic energy or flesh.
  • Superhuman Strength: Williams possesses vast superhuman strength, the limits of which aren't known, and he is listed at the class 100 limit.
  • Leaping (latent): His strength extends into his legs, as he is capable of superhuman leaps covering several hundred feet in long strides.
  • Superhuman Speed: He can run and move and react at speeds that are beyond the physical limits of the finest human athlete.
  • Superhuman Stamina: Williams' ionic body grants him unlimited stamina and is therefore immune to fatigue.
  • Invulnerability: His bodily tissues are much harder due to being ionized organic matter instead of normal flesh and far more resistant to physical injury than the bodily tissues of a normal human. Williams is highly resistant to penetration wounds, even from high-caliber machine gun shells. He can also withstand tremendous impact forces such as falling from great heights, being repeatedly struck by superhumanly strong opponents or breaching planetary orbit and making re-entry without being hurt. Also showcasing high resistance to extreme changes in temperatures.
  • Superhuman Agility: His agility, balance, and bodily coordination are all enhanced to levels that are beyond the natural physical limits of even the finest human athlete.
  • Superhuman Reflexes: Mr. Williams' reflexes are similarly enhanced and are superior to those of the finest human athlete.
  • Superhuman Senses: Mr. Williams' powers attune him to a higher observational field than the typical human being. With further practice from Hank Pym and Janet van Dyne, he was taught to feel and sense the ambient energy; physical, radiological or otherwise. And interact with it through sheer focus.
  • Superhuman Hearing: His hearing has been enhanced to a superhuman degree.
  • Energy Vision: Mr. Williams can see beyond the usual spectrum visible to the human eye.
  • Flight: Mr. Williams is now able to fly through the air at great speeds, the exact limit of which isn't known.
  • Immortality: Mr. Williams is functionally immortal. Because of the ionic energy that empowers him, he no longer ages and is immune to disease and infection. This same energy sustains Mr. Williams' physical vitality far more efficiently than the biochemical process that sustain ordinary human life.
  • Self-Sustenance: As a result of his transformation he no longer requires food, sleep, water or oxygen to survive. Mr. Williams is now a fully energized entity who can sustain himself indefinitely without nourishment, easily able to live outside habitable planet orbit.
  • Ionic Regenerative Healing: Mr. Williams' ionic form can heal itself from gunshot wounds, surgery, and even severed limbs. This allowed him to constantly survive death more often. This may be so because he has no bones, blood or organs; he is a being of pure ionic energy, allowing him to reform after any injury.
  • Energy Manipulation (latent): In his energy form, Mr. Williams learned he had the ability to emit ionic energy blasts of devastating force from his hands and eyes.

    Personal history

Born in 1958, Simon Williams was the younger of two sons born to Sanford Williams, the Founder of Roxxon Industries. Growing up spoiled by his mother and loathed by his father, Mr. Williams resented the thought of being a part of the Williams empire and dreamed of moving to Las Angeles to pursue a career in acting, while his older brother, Eric Williams, pursued a life of crime often stealing from Roxxon in defiance of his father. At the age of thirty, Mr. Williams finally landed a lead role in the movie "Death's Head" after only starring as a background extra throughout his twenties. After the success of the first "Death's Head" movie, Mr. Williams was convinced that the "Death's Head" movie franchise could be bigger than both "Die Hard" and "Predator" and the key to that success was authenticity. Mr. Williams convinced his father to let the studio shoot "Death's Head 2: Headhunting"'s final action scene in one of Roxxon's vita radiation labs. On July 19th, 1989, an accident on set resulted in Mr. Williams being bombarded by a large amount of vita radiation, bursting into a flash of light, and then vanishing. Mr. William's was thought dead until he reappeared in the same lab he vanished in. Mr. Williams' body was physically altered at a cellular level transforming Mr. Williams into pure ionic radiation. With great concentration, Mr. William's was able to reconstitute his physical form and found that his new condition gifted him several new abilities such as flight and energy projection. Seeing this as a business opportunity, Sanford Williams appointed his son as Roxxon's first official superhero. Eric Williams had a much more negative reaction envying his brother's newfound power and popularity. This dangerous sibling rivalry met a boiling point when Mr. William's attempted to prevent Eric from stealing an experimental Kree weaponry being studied at Roxxon's eastern facility. The weapon attached itself onto Eric's arm and cybernetically infused itself with Eric's physiology. In the resulting battle between the Williams brothers, Sanford Williams was killed, and Eric Williams was put into a coma. Mr. Williams continued his dual careers of acting and super heroics even after the acquisition of Roxxon Industries under S.H.I.E.L.D. Threat #4666: Advanced Idea Mechanics/A.I.M. at the turn of the century. In 2012, Mr. Williams joined S.H.I.E.L.D. Threat #1610: The Ultimates until the events of the Ultron Incident later that year. Not much is known about what happened to Mr. Williams, but in the aftermath of the battle Mr. Williams resigned from being Roxxon's superhero and left the superhero lifestyle all together to adopt a pacifist philosophy and focus more on his acting career. In 2013, Mr. William's landed a role as Alex Lipton, the father of Wanda Lipton, on the television program "Wandavision" putting him in direct contact with another Omega level threat, Avengers Initiate #6: Wanda Maximoff/Scarlet Witch. S.H.I.E.L.D. and A.R.M.O.R. personnel are to monitor any interactions between Mr. Williams and Ms. Maximoff. Recently, Mr. Williams has agreed to join S.H.I.E.L.D. Consulting Team #4: West Coat Avengers as a supervisor.       - S.H.I.E.L.D. Operative, Raymond Sikorski

    Employment

While formally a superhero on the team S.H.I.E.L.D. Threat #1610: The Ultimates Neutralized, Mr. Williams is also an accomplished actor.

    Mental Trauma

Mr. Williams has a number of mental disorders stemming from how his father treated him during his childhood, but the disorder that currently plays the largest role in his life is the Post Traumatic Stress Disorder he suffers from due to the Ultron Incident. Mr. Williams refuses to open up about the subject during our sessions and will emotionally shut down if the topic is mentioned.                                                                                                                                                                                               - Dr. Leonard Samson, P.H.D.
