Emperor of Eija
The Emperor of Eijia rules over the Eiji Empire. He is the face of the Himansa people, defender of Himansa culture, and upholder of Himansaism.
Requirements
The rank of the Eiji Emperor is more or less hereditary, so it remains within the ruling family. The Emperor is always male, but he does not have to be related by blood to the previous Emperor; he can be the husband of a previous Emperor's daughter.
On the off chance a potential heir leaves the faith of Himansaism, this disqualifies that person from becoming heir to the empire and, in turn, from becoming Emperor.
Appointment
The current Emperor chooses among his children who will inherit the title. His children know this as soon as they can speak, so growing up as the Eiji Emperor's child is a competitive life. If the Emperor chooses a son as his heir, that son will be the next Emperor, and any wife he has will have the title of Empress Consort. If the Emperor chooses a daughter as his heir, that daughter's husband will be the next Emperor, and she will have the title of Empress Heiress.
Duties
The Emperor of Eijia must protect his people and model proper behavior for a follower of Himansaism. He is the face of the nation, both in the governmental way (being the face of the Empire) and in the ethnic way (being the face of the Himansa people).
Responsibilities
The Emperor of Eijia has to hold together the Empire. This means meeting with advisors to figure out the best policies for the empire. This means having audiences with regional and local rulers who answer to him.
Cultural Significance
The different cultures that the Empire has absorbed have varying attitudes toward the Emperor who rules over them. Some consider him a tyrant. Some have bought into the Empire's ideology, and as a result, consider him a protector and savior.
