Office of the Grand Warden, Thereon Lycos SUBJECT: PRISONER SELF-SUFFICIENCY EXPERIMENT
Council Members,
I’m giving you an advanced warning on the newest experiment we shall begin to test the demi-gods. You charged me with getting all of them either fully transitioned or remove the Spark from them. I must regrettably say that on both accounts, we have failed.
The spark will instantly return to its bonded host, using any esoteric method needed. We have watched it teleport, apparate, evaporate, and even quantum tunnel to return. We have no means of stopping it from doing so. The best way we could study these sparks was when it was given freely, and the host was in the room. For those who suggest killing the host, it simply doesn’t work as they share our durability, regeneration, and adaptability. The staff at the prison come from a wide range of domains so we should have one consistent way of dealing with the prisoners. We have seen prisoners immolated to ash reform within the hour. The drowned come back in minutes. They don’t bleed out. The only thing that works at reducing the population is when the host decides that ending their own lives is better than suffering eternally.
In terms of getting them to transition to godhood, I find that all of our prisoners are held back by what many humans call the ego. This fragile structure that our humans say “defines themselves” is the barrier between pain and peace. They lack the willpower to give up their personal identities and join us in shepherding the Multiverse. We have brought in the most enlightened gurus, fruits that contain the truth of good and evil, and even allowed them free reign of the Akashic Record on-site. Not one has achieved the feat. in fact, the more knowledge we gave them of their place in the world, the hotter their sparks burn them with nothing to show for it.
Our prisoners are largely content, with a few flare-ups of violence or factionalism. However, most newcomers have trouble integrating as many of them don’t understand for which crime they have been placed in my care. Often I have no words for them.
For this final Experiment, We shall leave monitoring equipment behind, but I and the prison staff are going to leave, the prisoners to see if this allows for more complete transitions in a more “free-form” environment. We have scheduled and crafted several cornucopia runes that generate food and water from magic, always calibrated for the prison population. While the Demi-gods don’t need food, water, sleep or air to survive, many of them cling to these acts as they help remind them of before their conditions.
Sincerely Yours, Thereon Lycos
PS: Please continue to send new Godlings to the prison, how they integrate newcomers shall be part of the experiment.
PSS: if a prison break occurs, we ask for a number of full-body firmament armors of at least Class S+ to subdue any who escape during this long-term experiment.
PSSS: We should have more results for you within the next 5000 years if the timetable goes correctly. We understand that this is a mild inconvenience to most gods, but we also have some human scholars who should be placed in stasis so they may see the final results.
