Green herbs

Simply known as as green herbs this refers to a wide variety of herbs found all over the world is similar properties. They usually resemble some form of weed and can be found in all by the most extreme conditions. These are highly valued for their healing properties, however since they are so common they sell for little and since they are useless to anyone without some skill with alchemy most inhabitants of the wastes ignore the odd green plants.

Basic Information

Anatomy

Though these plants vary greatly with region they have some similar characteristics. Their leaves are a rich green and surround a central stalk of some sort. The grow up to 6 inches tall, however if left some can reach up to a foot in height.

Genetics and Reproduction

These plants can reproduce via self-pollination or be pollinated by the various post-bombs mutant bugs that roam the lands. Once pollinated the seeds drop around the plant or are carried by birds and animals to new locals. They seeds are hard and difficult to digest so they rarely are. Once deposited they take about a day to sprout and quickly grow, reaching maturity in four to twelve days, at which point the cycle begins again. They do not die after dropping seeds.

It takes about four to twelve days for a plant to reach adulthood and begin seeding.

Ecology and Habitats

Nearly anywhere. As long as there is a light source and the conditions allow for any plant life. Exclusions include: Blight pools, deserts, lava, glaciers, and in lightness caves.

Dietary Needs and Habits

Its needs are minimal. Even a novice gardener could keep these alive, and if they plant it outside the plants raise themselves.

Biological Cycle

These plants grow year-round, even in the winter they self-pollinate and drop seeds around them. The seeds usually don't sprout if snow prevents them but otherwise they will grow even in the winter. Leaves regrow when eaten or harvested as long as part of the plant is left intact allowing herbalists to gather a regular supply if they're careful.
