Brawling

The wasteland is a terrible place, and more often than not learning to defend yourself is a trial by fire, with the least experienced combatant ending up in a shallow grave (if they're so lucky). Brawling started as a way to blow off steam but has evolved into a low-stakes training arena where the winner gets a nice pay off.

History

In the wasteland its fight or die on most occasions. But sometimes you just want to blow off steam without the threat of someone else dying, so people fight. They're usually unplanned and unregulated, you see someone you want a piece of and you go for it. Bets are placed, lines are drawn, and you two duke it out until one goes down. Loser buys drinks, winner doesn't get their ass beat.   As these fights became more common some bar keepers decided it would be easier and safer to build a ring, and so they started having organized matches. Now the loser isn't permanently hurt and the winner gets a cut of the betting pool.

Execution

The rules are simple 1. Pick an opponent. 2. No weapons. 3. Stay in the ring. 4. Try not to kill 'em. Everything else is up to the house to decide.

Components and tools

No one is allowed weapons, this includes unarmed and melee weapons. More often than not armor isn't allowed either. Both combatants get the fists, hooves, and claws they were born with and nothing else. Even robotic limbs are only sometimes allowed, and even then its with heavy padding.

Participants

These are open to the public, if you want to watch there's an area around the arena to stand. If you want to drink the bar is still open and there's tables a little further from the arena. If you want to bet, find the bookmaker. If you want to fight, get in line you'll get your shot.

Observance

As long as people have money or items to bet with these fights can be held several times a day for several days in a row. However once the bets start slowing down the owners will stop for a week or so, let new drifters come to town, let money exchange hands, let the fighters heal up. Then it starts all over again with a fresh batch or some old favorites.
