The snappish mage last will
The snappish mage was an... excectric granter. She's well known for her "impossible tests" and unjustified refusals when asked for help, but also loved by the people who got not only a wish but a valuable lesson.
It's hard to know if she was devious or just an strict teacher, but it's even harder to find information about what became of her.
The only piece of evidence supporting any of the many theories, is this letter adressed to the current granter as her successor and supposedly signed by her and a second, mysterious person.
This is the same design used for last wills in some worlds, and similar enough to others, to allow the "awaiters" to believe that that's what this is. Knowing so little of her, it's a theory as valid as many others about her, I know.
But, here's the thing: there is no reasons to believe that that symbol is her signature. No official documents (which she never did), no confirmation from the few who knew her, nothing. Neither the "original" symbol, nor the alleged testament where found in a place related to her. They just decided to attibute all these things to her, and turn her into the source of their conspiracy theories.
There are some sensible things in the letter, and cute remembrances that the boss confirmed, but weren't exactly a secret. And, here a there: the nonsense. "Please put an end to the madness of fighting time", it reads, when everyone knows she wasn't here when the was casted. "Never forget that it's our responsibility to provide, not to decide what's best for people who's lives we haven't lived", it says; don't make me laugh. As if he hasn't refused or offered wishes according to her mood.
The so called awaiters go as far as saying that the reason why the letter was found in that place, is because the granter toss it somewhere because he didn't like some of the instructions; of course, this kind of theory they don't share to any , but I worry about the meaning they want to give to it.
Of course, the boss hadn't read—or even hear—about that document before they hanged it in a wall on the Underground Library. But he does know that is not really from his friend and predecessor, that's why he didn't mind it when it mysteriously disappeared, probably to be taken to the place where that shaddy people meets now that they don't do it at the library.
An unknown "witness".

Allegedly a few days before her vanishing
A few were so annoyed that, when it dissapeared, they were supected to have tossed it to the fire. I didn't do it myself, so I thought they didn't either, but who knows.
