Session XXIII

General Summary

The following day, while Morathric goes off chasing after sorcerous pursuits for the day, the group goes to the Temple of Shallya (after the captain asks Loretta to go out to the group and visit the fair in the evening), opposite of the Physician's Guild on the Market Square in Ubersreik, where they speak with Sister Celestine Hoch, to see if she can aid them with Liebwin's ailment. While she would like to help, permission from the High Priestess is required, as the sisters of Shallya always keep busy and are ever few in number compared to the people that seek their aid - the High Priestess, Marianne Altenblum, agrees to have Sister Celestine travel with them to aid Liebwin, but that her hands will be sorely missed during that time and that if this is to take place, a donation to the Temple to compensate will be required.    Travelling to the guild again to ask for funding, the group speaks with Doktor / Guild Master Madelung, who has a meeting with the Burgomeister planned later that day, and talks of how Otto Krupp, now working the reception (and warning Raaf of the dangers of women), spent quite a lot on his own costumes and assorted types of costs - but she contributes 5 Golden Crowns to Liebwin's recovery, with the remaining 10 Crowns in donation required funded by the group.    Heading back outside, they are approached by a plain-looking man with a grey cloak, telling them they are expected at Castle Black Rock come noon, before they return to the High Priestess, who promises to inform Sister Celestine, who will be ready to travel come the morning the next day. Following some searching at the Castle, the group is led up the stairs and onto the walls by two soldiers, where they meet with Lady Emannuelle Nacht, who is inspecting the cannons lining the walls of the castle - and how far their reach is, the crew practicing on targets lined up outside of the city walls, who asks them after their encounter in Blutroch before bidding them farewell - but only after giving the Captain a letter to give to Guildmaster Karsten Rugger of the Boatman's Guild.   Skaldon faithfully delivers the letter, but is not told about anything of interest that happened in guild affairs, only that some sailors drowned during their work out on the river recently. He is given another sealed letter to return to Lady Nacht, which he does - and she in turn asks him after his skills as a boatman, before letting him go and wander off once more.   At the fair, the group, together with Loretta, get themselves dinner and toffeed apples, while watching some of the shows around and about, with Will having his fortune read - "You are soon to hear the sound of tiny feet", and the group watch the Mighty Klogg, 'the strongest Halfling this side of the World's Edge Mountains' perform, before engaging in the challenge offered - a competition in who can hold a cannonball the longest! While Skaldon beats the Halfling, Will fails - as does the rest of the crowd.    The Captain is approached at the fair by the same man that told them to go to Castle Black Rock, who tells him to follow him, leading him to a dockside warehouse, where he is handed a dagger and presented with a familiar-looking, tied up figure, that of Arne Lengred, a crewman on his old ship and the right hand man of his old, mutinous helmsman...
